Yes I'm guilty too.....Also guilty of starting this thread, haha. :hihi:

too much irrational insults of hip hop.
If this were a trance thread I doubt you'd be saying that. I've seen comments on another thread relating the insulting of hip hop in this thread back to racist slurs as well, which is just ridiculous.

If you can't attack taste in music, then why do I see it everywhere? It's socially accepted bigotry, and as much as I'd like to see such bigotry and schadenfreude be stamped out, hip hop has no special right to be tip-toed around more than any other genre.

That said, I like hip hop. :)

Rounser you speak for your own perceptions and I can respect that, but you won't find me in any trance threads disrespecting anyones musical taste much less disrespecting people for having that taste and if you can't see the difference between people talking stupidly about trance music and people talking stupidly about the kind of people making hiphop music and what that likens itself to then that's on you.

personaly I find these types of comments despitcable

and they are all over every hiphop thread on this forum.
"grunt grunt" what, am I a monky or something else that grunts to you because I make hiphop?.... mind you these comments usualy come from folk that don't even know what hiphop is.

"un-evolved" "devolved"

You should see what i have to say about the people that make trance.

So...it's OK to dismiss other forms of music in any way one likes, but to specifically dismiss the people making hiphop suddenly is different? because hiphop has so many victims making it? I thought victims usually implied a minority. From what I can gather in the US, hiphop is a majority form of musical abuse. So being nasty to me (a minority hiphop dismissser) by a majority hiphop liker is probably the more distasteful thing.

And anyway...what on earth is so distasteful about me satirising an image that has been repeated again and again and again ad nauseum for many a year by the many in the hiphop genre. That of bling bling, diamond encrusted obvious accoutrements.

Or was it just the word "dicks" that upset you? Again I thought the mainstream hiphop fashion was to wear trousers in such a way that the dick only just doesn't show, simply because it's holding one's aforementioned trousers up.

People are so sensitive nowadays.

I'll take the piss out of the trance crew too, if that makes you any happier. I'll take the piss out of the rock crew, and the reggae crew, and the R'n'B crew, and the Country crew. I quite happily take the piss out of forms of music that I like myself. Music isn't sacrosanct, and it's probably just unfortunate that the mainstream hiphop image is so incredibly easy to take the piss out of.

It amuses me no end. Obviously not you. Tough really, innit?
I've got nothing else better to do at the moment. It's jolly sad really. How dull my life must be. If hiphop is so exciting and essential, how come you're arguing with a dull bastard like me... :hihi:

the worst part is you have no idea who you're talking to, what you're talking about, or why you're talking about it.....aloof.

Post

the worst part is you have no idea who you're talking to
I thought that was taken for granted on the internet where most of us use nicknames for specifically that reason. I have no idea why it's sad that I don't know who I'm talking (or should I say...typing) to.
what you're talking about
No less than you. So because I disagree utterly with you, I must be talking garbage? Same goes to you. You disagree utterly with me, therefore you're talking garbage. That's a really utterly pointless idea too.
or why you're talking about it

Errr...I just told you it amused me. Why are you talking about it. At least I've stated my reason. And it's every bit as valid as yours. TBH I don't normally waste my time on silly arguments like this...I try to be helpful most of the time, but hiphop just rubs me up the wrong way in so many aspects. Dunno completely why, although I know mostly why. So my dark side brings me into this type of silly argument. And believe me...this one is really silly.

aloof
Yes, I have been called that before. Aloof...that implies one feels one is above something. Which subsequently implies something is beneath one. You are spot on, my friend...I do find hiphop beneath my interests.

Your counterstrikes are very accurate...i agree with all of them. 8)

are you still here....damn! you don't like hiphop, it rubs you the wrong way so get the f**k out the thread before i send my boys lethal and destruction to your house.

Post

why didn't you tell me you make hiphop kritikon, that shits dope keep-it up homie.

Post

that shits dope keep-it up homie
No idea what that means. So I translated it to some other languages and then back...to be honest, it made slightly more sense in foreign languages than in English.

French/English: "this doping agent shits to keep it to the top of the homy"

German/English: "this shit lubricant hold it up homie"

Japanese/English: "As for that dope paint preservation on homie it is every [wa] which it can curve"

Arabic/English: "It remains to Shits drugs even Homi"

It was the shit lubricant one gave it away to me that you were talking about hiphop.

Then...
so get the f**k out the thread before i send my boys lethal and destruction to your house.
Yeah...that really improves my estimation of anyone that makes hiphop. Wasn't it you that just reminded me that neither of us knows who the other one is, but you stoop to puerile threats?

I should stop, I really should...but can't you see you make the temptation just too great. It's like pulling legs off daddy long legs. I know I shouldn't but they just dangle their long dangly pull-offable legs in front of me. :hihi:

Post

I think they should probably add hiphop to the sensitive list of topics, alongside religion, race, politics, tarnce and Vegemite.

i feel the same way. this coming from someone who was raised on hip hop and still loves it till this day...and always will. most of the mainstream rap community has gone so far down a dark road i'm not sure if it'll ever recover. the rap music you hear on the radio is hip'pop' not hip hop, imho. so, like most pop music, its about quantity not quality. most mainstream rap artists have become cartoons of themselves. even i can't help but chuckling when mr. big rapper raises his upper lip so you can see his gold fronts. it used to be cool when slick rick did it. why? because he was one of the originators. it was his style. it's what made him who he was/is. it made him original. now everyone does it. and when everyone does it becomes a stereo type. I guess the bottom line is that there is rarely anything original in the mainstream hip hop genre and that only perpetuates the negative image. like any genre, if you look beneath the surface there are real artists out there. then again, if you simply don't feel a certain type of music then thats okay. but none one should put themselves onto a pedal stool and feel justified for taking the piss out of a genre of music because you can't 'relate'. i can't relate to country music but i can still feel it. if i'm around country music and country music fans are enjoying it, then i can enjoy it....because THEY ARE enjoying it. make sense?

I love music....period.

peace
