1 question - does Timeless have a "freeze" button like the Ableton ping pong delay, where you can freeze the wet signal and then play with the parameters to get some really crazy shit happening?
If it doesn't, it'd be a real shame..

Nope, no freeze button, but you could make the suggestion in the fabfilter forum and maybe it will appear in a further update!
Cheers!

I think you could just set up some controller automation to cut the dry signal (if you want) and increase the feedback to 100%, that would "freeze" the wet signal. You'd have to be wary of filter settings and such, there's just a lot more to manage than Ableton's ping-pong delay. But that would pretty much do the same thing as the "freeze", methinks.

As I understand it, it's not exactly the same as freeze. If you put feedback on 100% all the feedbacking information gets sent into the loop again and again, hence the name, feedback.
But, freeze I think simply loops a section of the audio but still lets you manipulate the filters or something.. or am I mistaken?
A better 3rd party solution is to insert somekind of sampler or editor (like the EDISSON in FL Studio) after Timeless to capture a loop and then insert whatever FX plugin after this.
It's still much more complex than a proper freeze button.
Cheers!

Yes, when you freeze, it basically loops whatever is in the feedback stage at that point, and you can keep tweaking all the parameters to make some crazy cool stuff...
I've used it on a number of tracks recently, and it'd be amazing to have something similar in Timeless with all its extra features, it could make for some really cool noises...

I'm pretty sure that Live's "Freeze" effect really is just what I described - it cuts the input into the delay and locks feedback at 100% . Live's ping-pong delay is kind of a POS though, it's not interpolated and there's not much to tweak. The filter sounds like caca, too - and it's not even in the signal path when you turn "Freeze" on (i.e. tweaking the filters does nothing in "freeze" mode). I just checked, and the same effects are possible with Timeless (they work best with the filters off if you want it to sound like Live), but they don't pop and produce all manner of nastiness.bmanic wrote:As I understand it, it's not exactly the same as freeze. If you want further confirmation, use "freeze" on the delay and listen to only the wet signal. It gradually gets darker, almost as if it were in some sort of feedback loop...oh, it is in a feedback loop!

If you cut the input to the delay and turn feedback up to 100%, it will basically loop whatever is in the feedback stage at that point. It's *no* different. The only thing is you may want to turn off the filters when you do this as well, if you want it to work like Live. The only thing is that Live has a button little button with an "F" which will do this for you - which granted, is nice.mustgroove wrote:Yes, when you freeze, it basically loops whatever is in the feedback stage at that point, and you can keep tweaking all the parameters to make some crazy cool stuff...

The ShinyFx Spectral Monkeyage has a freeze function. You could insert that before Timeless, enable the freeze, then you have the full pallete of feature from Timeless to do with as you please.
