In Samplitude snap is a right-click setup (vs. the pull-down/up or whatever). There may be a way to use the menu to pick what you want, but I use hotkeys which is even faster for me - different keys set to different grids/measures/smpte/bars/beats, whatever.. Helps keep the workflow going without all the mouseclicks.
Samp. 9 has sidechaining.
The Magix Samplitude forum is full of pro users that keep to the point (and keep the developers on their toes).

bobby yarrow huge thanks. I might just bite the bullet and upgrade to v4 of Cubase. I agree about the Cubase forums, they are mostly useless, especially when reporting bugs.
siriusbliss thanks a lot for your input too. I think I'll definitely give Samplitude a bit more of a chance before continuing with Cubase for sure. I must admit though, that Samplitude is almost double the price of Cubase 4 and 4 times the price of Cubase STudio 4 which is actually sufficient for me anyway. But end of the day, if I have more paying clients soon, I want to have reliable software so that can be overlooked.
Huge thanks folks
