I'm currently working on the sophmore CD release for Granville and I just got a call from them, well, from Brian who is Granville's singer/songwriter/brains . . . Turns out Granville's first CD has gotten them nominated for Best New Group/Duo at the New Music Awards in Hollywood, sponsored by New Music Weekly magazine.
Granville's listed in both the "AC/Hot AC" and "College" categories.
You can hear clips of the album on his web site above, and at both amazon.com and CDBaby. Four full songs can be heard at the Granville myspace page including Dissatisfied and The Warm Dark, both of which I did a lot of production work on.
Of course, that means I've got to get my ass in gear and finish up at least 3 songs on the new CD so they can have some new material to hand out at the awards on the 18th
I thought it was pretty cool news.
I was very, very heavily involved with this one. The sound clusters, I assume are the wobbly guitar chords that run throughout the song. The guitar chords were originally recorded with a guitar synth FX that had an LFO effect that was a bit off tempo. I ran them through Vokator and modulated them with the rhythm guitar track to put them back in tempo.
