loop points

I need to find a program , free or not, that opens a wav file, finds zero crossing loop points, and SAVES that info to the wav itself so that if I import that wave in any sampler, the loop points will already be set. I know this is possible because I have a few samples from an old Akai sample cd where I load the samples (not the patch) into an empty NN-XT in reason, and the loop points are already set and even the playback mode is set to "Forward-Loop" rather than the default "Forward"

Please let me know what is out there that will help me do this.
Thank you
Jeff

Zero-X Seamless looper.

I remember a discussion about this a couple of months (maybe even a year ago). baseballjg and hollowsun were involved (and very knowledgeable). You might want to search and/or pm them.

You can easily find zero crossings and set loop points in Adobe's Audition.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you!!

This is it? this is all the programs that do loop points?
Is there any free ones out there?

Post

any wave editor will do it.

Peak, Sound forge, Wavelab, DSP Quattro, Audtion etc etc etc etc

Post

you can also find zero crossings at intersections with a DONT WALK sign

I think Wavosaur, and TWS are free software programs that do it too. Also, Awave, Goldwave, and Edison are capable of doing what you want -- but cost money.

whats TWS?

Sorry, it's not TWS, it's TWE. My mistake. The web address is as follows:

http://www.yamahasynth.com/download/twe.html

My understanding is that it does it all (even crossfading), and is completely free.

Try it out and let us know what you think. I haven't had time to try it, but it's made by Yamaha, and used for their hardware, so it's probably pretty reliable.

Let us know. :)

Personally, I'm using WaveLab (still version 3) and find it excellent, but I heard only good things about Zero-X Seamless Looper.

The problem with using programs like AA to establish loop points is that they will not create crossover points.. This basically means that you will get loop points BUT will probably get the deadly click sound when the loop repeats.. This is a major problem with finding loop points in an editor instead of getting them in the sampler itself!

Depends. I tend to apply some destructive x-fade, so they will sound the same in both WaveLab and whatever sampler of my choice.
