Hi all

I'm trying to do a sample in SFZ format.
I want the sound to be less bright using low velocity, and much brighter with high velocity.

So..I need to use the Filter Velocity track Opcode.
Whats the best setting? The highest is 9600
Do I need to also put in a Filter Cutoff Amount for this to work properly? If so..what is the best setting for that?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Kinda new to this.

EDIT: I guess maybe a priciple that you can use in any file format would be good: do you need to put the Filter Vel Track to the highest to get the best setting?..do you need to have a filter cutoff point?

Here's an example from Simon's Cakewalk book. It should work ok in the sfz player. In Rapture or DimenPro, the cutoff setting will override the sfz unless you set the cutoff to 0.

Code: Select all

<group>

fil_type=lpf_2p
cutoff=300
resonance=5
fil_veltrack=4000
I think you can microtune too, but you have to have a region entry for each note. :p

Thank you..this is very helpful as well as mentioning the Cakewalk book..I am getting it! Microtune sounds cool :-) I initually started with a cuttoff of 800, and a vel trk of 2400..the limit of the sfzED,..but he has now updated it to spec to 9600, so I can try these types of settings.

Anybody else working with SFZ stuff? It seems to be pretty flexable.

Maybe you should get the book, Tim. Your name is mentioned in the Power Users download chapter.
