Oh My God ! You are that ressentfull ?But some of the users - GOD.
"Why doesn't this play AVI's?"
"Because of all the reasons listed in the documentation-"
"Yeah, but I want it to play AVI's"
"Well then you write one that breaks international law, then-"
"Geez man, don't be so stingy, it's not like this isn't CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM! Nobodies going to use it if it doesn't SUPPORT AVI's"
f**k!!!
BTW, your point about breaking international laws by supporting AVI is 100% moot IMO.
You just have to look around the net for media players, VJ software, etc... and you'll find plenty of them, many free, all of which supporting AVI, none breaking any law AFAIK (unless maybe if they have been compiled on a pirated OS). Because as I see it (maybe wrongly as I am not too aware of the workings of SDL) you would not need to incorporate decoding capabilities for such or such codec that might not be legal but simply support avi playback via either VFW or DirectShow, leaving the decoding down to those runtimes and whatever suitable codec is installed on the system.
I hope you have not drawn that conclusion just because of this couple of insignificant posts I have made in the other thread. At least the benefit of doing this contest has been that I am now aware of what a minefield developing for VST is.
