do you have to go through the whole service center thing with the demos ?

no. just ignore that bit about needing to run Service Center before you can run Massive. just install Massive and when you open it up it will give you the choice of running it in demo mode. at least this is the case with the mac version.

It's the case with the Windows version as well.

curious about absynth, loved massive demo , not very much into fm8..
(the only problem is i don't really need more stuff, (and m always broke)). but congrats !!

Massive sounds very good with its own character. However cpu hit isn't small even for the "eco" option (quality doesn't degrade too much either). I don't like presets thought but the interface is both clear and functional. Finally a very good preset manager in a soft synth too!

FM8 eats less cpu cycles and gives many interesting textures. The morph option is a very good one and it's making it superb for some automation extravaganza.

Yet as those new NI synths are impressive there are alternatives not being much worse. Actually even better in some aspects.

So far I'm not that impressed with the Envelope design. I don't get why they chose to have these Morph presets for the sustain section instead of the more flexible Absynth/FM7/Kontakt spline based style. I like the idea of being able to Morph between 2 different sustain curves but I don't like being limited to only presets for this. I also don't get why they didn't include tempo sync for envelopes, since they have included rhythmic presets in the Morph sections.

Not that impressed with the Performer design either. Again, I don't know why they didn't allow freeform spline based editing of the modulators. On the positive side, the ability to crossfade between 2 different Performer modulations is pretty interesting.

Wish there was some sort of numerical feedback on knob settings.

Other than that, it's definitely a nice sounding synth. The modulation scheme is really nice. Reminds me a bit of FabFilter's modulation routing style. I do wish that it had 4 Oscillators instead of 3 though. I think that it would make Vector style sounds a little more interesting to program with at least one more Osc. Can't figure out why people keep making 3 Osc synths anyway. Must be the long shadow cast by the Minimoog or something.

Anyway, like I said... it's a nice sounding synth, but quite frankly, I'm not really that impressed with it. Will see what improvements V2 brings... a couple of years from now.

yeah tried, it's about 10-20% less.. even too much to be usable 4 me

quality is good of course but i was not so impressed,
i prefer Zebra2 way more! hope to get it before the nu year

IMO, the Performer doesn't have a whole lot of flexibility. Like I said, I prefer the Absynth/FM7/Kontakt style breakpoint envelopes.
