Battery 3 Upgrade?

Currently using Battery 2 with no issues, does what I need but the upgrade to Battery 3 is tempting me mostly for the additional sounds and kits.
Is the Battery 3 upgrade worth it or should I just take my $100 and invest in some stand alone sounds and kits?

Unquestionably, the answer is . . . YES.
As in, upgrade at first opportunity.

Battery 3 is the first product NI has ever put out that I wanted the first time I saw it. Sort of an irrational, gut want. I have Reaktor 5, and I'm mostly ambivalent about it, but Battery 3 strikes me as being exactly what I imagine it should be.
Now I just need to figure out if I have any use for it to justify getting it.

I agree. I liked Battery 1 and 2, but could have easily done without them. Battery 3 however is an incredible value on the upgrade. Over 100 kits, effects, plus tutorial videos. Well worth it. The only thing missing now is a basic sequencer.

I read your posts in the thread you've linked to and I'm also interested in Battery's Cell Library and the In-Kit Preview feature. However, can you tell me if it's possible to use the Cell-format for the In-Kit Preview, i. e. am I able to step through the various sounds of a specific category of the Cell Library while they are being played in the kit that's currently in use? You know, like having a drum arrangement done, but you'd like to know which one of the snares/acoustic/processed is the best for that particular pattern...

Hmm. I'm not really sure. I haven't actually tried the In-Kit Preview thing. I'm too happy with the kits that come with it to go building my own right now, so it hasn't been a priority.loachm wrote:Hi emdot_ambient,

I've been working on several tracks for the new Granville CD, and Battery 3's proving to be just amazing. Can't say enough about it.

...if you'd replace a cell, can you select a .cel and hear its sound while playing the sequence (the In-Kit preview option has to switched on, of course)? I don't know if this is handled the same way like in Battery 2, but there it has only been possible to listen to soundfiles not these cel-files...

...would be the Komplete 4 upgrade in my case and I need a new audio interface, so this might take a while anyway. (But I'm so curios about that Battery 3 feature - if this wouldn't work, this would be just another example of a, let's say, suboptimal product design)...
