Yo y'all:

Some of you folks know me from the monthly free downloads of loop and sample outtakes from producing Texas Music Forge which I routinely post here for my fellow KVR denizens.

I've just signed a production agreement with Loop Library (looplibrary.com) and have released the first 6 Texas Music Forge loop sets for sale through their website. The sets are priced at a very reasonable $5.00 apiece and contain all new recordings made specifically for these sets. They are:

Bent Reeds - a collection of soulful amplified harmonica loops and samples recorded in a variety of rhythms and in both major and minor keys. These loops/samples are all fully Acidized and are each a full 8 measures (!) long.

Man Of The House - These vocal samples are a mix of sung and spoken phrases in a full-throated soul/R&B style reminiscent of Ray Charles, Joe Cocker or Otis Redding. All are recorded at a dance music-friendly 140 bpm and are perfect for adding some soulful grit and glory to your house, techno or trance productions. What is different about these sets is the inclusion of alternate versions of most of these phrases which vary by volume, dynamics or musical phrasing. You can now match the vocal sample you like with the version which best fits your production's needs.

We will also be releasing on Loop Library the following sets before the end of the year:

1. Stevie Wonder-style chromatic harmonica;
2. Unamplified country/gospel harmonica;
3. Processed harmonica for dance music;
4. Several old skool funk guitar sets;
5. Several Dobro sets;
6. "Vocal harmonies in a box" sets.

I'll continue to post a limited number of free loops and samples here for the benefit of the several hundred folks a month who are downloading them, but I've taken most of the older free sample packs offline and will restrict the number of free files in the future.

Say no more, nudge nudge, wink wink. LoopLibrary just added my new chromatic harmonica sets called Soul And Silk this morning. Here is the link for the harmonica sets:

There are a total of three sets in the Soul And Silk series. I tried to pay homage to the three most popular chromatic players in recorded history, Toots Thielemans, Larry Adler and Stevie Wonder, by copying their styles or trademark riffs. The Adler samples are intended for cinematic, classical and ballad productions. The Toots samples are jazzier and intended for pop, jazz and cinematic scoring. The Stevie samples are more rhythmic and would sit well in a dance music, funk, pop or R&B mix. I scattered some extras in among the three sets, such as full chords and a complete set of octaves for the C major scale - perfect for you producers who like to sample and create your own riffs.

I recorded these sets yesterday in response to this particular comment on this thread. I am open to requests for new sample sets from any of y'all who are familiar with my work. Let me know what y'all need. If I think there's enough of a demand for it, I'll put together a sample set of guitars, bass, percussion, keys, harmonica, voice, mandolin, etc. in specific keys, tempos or styles. At $5.00 per loop set, I might be the most affordable professional session musician you'll ever find.

This is sooo great, Ed!

I love that ol' Toots is getting a mention, too. He's a pretty big name over here after spending a lot of time in Sweden playing with our jazz greats.

Any up-tempo stuff in there? I'd love some of those quick bends/trills that Stevie did in e.g. Eurythmics' "There Must Be An Angel".

I see some purchases in my near future - the price is certainly right.
