I have not uploaded any samples in a while, so here are four small samples of fireworks.

They are all 24 bit field recordings, 3 mono and 1 stereo.

A quick MP3 of the stereo flurry

And a quick MP3 example of the one shot bang

You can grab the pack from the front page of http://spe3d.com

Thanks genetic, I had a bit of an enforced break a while back due to a germ, and took it easy for a month after too :D

I thought fireworks would be a good start as they are everywhere this time of year - what I really need to do is sample some in a controlled environment for the fizzy stuff, and less gain on the bangs :)

Hi Spe3D, long time no see :)
I wonder if I can dig up my recording of fireworks echoing off skyscrapers and the impulses made from them?

Nice sample set. You're too good to us.

Hi runagate, thanks for checking them out - you should post some IR's I recon big bangs and walls would make for an interesting ir response. :)

Hey, some great field recordings there, thanks.
Always wanted to try this...I bought a minidisk recorder but it was always such a hassle converting files etc. What do you recomend for recording...I know there is some great equipment out there now for this kind of thing.

Hi! dano, thanks for checking them out :)

I started with a mini disk a while back and the conversion to wave is a pain - your are right there are many recorders to choose from now - it really comes down to price and what you want to carry around with you. (Personally I think they are all way too expensive for what they offer atm) - it would be a good idea to wait a bit for the market to be totally saturated with mini recorders, then you will be able to get pretty good quality for not a lot of money, I think the recorders that sell for about 300 quid are worth, in reality, about 100 quid due to build and specifications, so I would wait for the price to come down to that level before getting a portable 24 bit recorder with the spec of the current line. However I wrote a little about some of the gear I have used at spe3d.com - click the sample stuff in the menu, there is a bit of info about mics and a couple of field recorders, also a bit about my addiction to field recording and how a portable mixer helped in the early days when I had the mini disk so I could use better mics.

Thanks speed!
I'm working on a song that needs some fireworks. Maybe they'll fit!
(Working means i've dabbled with it for 4 years with hope it will be ready in 2010 or something like that  )

Cool, thank you bitfreak8 :D

I will try and do some more fireworks, but individual ones, fairly close mic recordings of the tails, this I will add as a second page to the original.

I know what you mean :hihi: it sounds just like my website spe3d.com, same thing, dabbled with, changed, reordered and now thinking about adding more categories - it was initially just a blank page for some time, to hide the directories of files I was feeding into forums. At the end of the day though I have finally got round to deciding this kind of stuff is best at spe3d.com rather than all over the place and in new sites etc :hihi:

Best regards,

Peter
