What's your general idea of the Oatmeal skin? Futuristic or retro? I'm really looking forward to your skin, I chose Oatmeal as my main instrument and find most of the skins flawed in some way - using the large default now, but it lacks clarity. My skin will take some time as I still need to figure out the code part.

I'm really looking forward to this, the small skins always kept me from spending more time with that beauty!
Thx a lot for all your efforts!

The general idea is still up in the air. I want to make something nice. It probably will not be hardware-like though this time around because of the massive amounts of stuff in there. I was thinking flat and clean this time. Part of me thinks that the cleaner and flatter the easier it will be to maintain/understand. I'm kind of sick of designing hardware-like interfaces TBH..jon wrote:that minimalist skin is only 1/3 mine - insertpizhere ported jorgen's XT2 looks to eXT, I just added colours, exchanged some icons and tweaked some contrasts. Nevertheless it does rock

everyone else:
I'm mocking up the plug now in Visio though. Should have something to show today.
.jon: Are you still using Xara mainly? I was thinking of giving that or fireworks a shot for this skin. Mainly because with photoshop I find the designs I produce aren't as clean (this is all my fault, but I get carried away with all the goodies in photoshop and when I do stuff in xara or fireworks it's much cleaner in the end).
Next phase is posting the flat mockup (which is just the beginning of the project) so everyone understands
laputa_sync: I was being sarcastic to return the favor

thoshu; try out the majken and yeager skins (there is a red one yeager with mixed knobs and faders, its my favorite of them all so far), it's larger.thoshu wrote:I'm really looking forward to this, the small skins always kept me from spending more time with that beauty!

There is another one too that is larger and good I can't remember the name though. I tried to help the designer with colors but don't know whatever came of it. It is probably in the oatmeal skin thread (the 90+ page one or whatever).

I love flat stuff, or maybe with just a little bit of elevation on some things to make them stand up - but full-height knobs and stuff is sort of vanity.
I still use Xara, more and more each day. I actually got hired last week as a part-time visual & web communications person, so thanks for your example and encouragement! Never tried Fireworks but I think the tool doesn't matter so much if you do pure vectors, it's just maths and differences are in the other features.

Looking great, and the logo absolutely rocks. Love that type.

the color scheme is fine. Flat & clean sound perfect to my taste.
