Loops and Sampletank

With all these great loop libraries coming out from SR, I wonder when/how IK will respond regarding better looping facilities in Sampletank, e.g. drag and drop of wav/rex files (no need to import) and perhaps even a slicer function (mmmm...)? Am I the only one using loops in Sampletank?

You aren't the only one using loops in SampleTank. In fact SampleTank is GREAT for loops because of it's loop sync functions and also when you have slices in SampleTank it is actually incredible and one of the best tools because of the 3 different engines you can apply to each slice! So there will be at least a lot of sound development in loops for ST from SR! Some of it may become downloadable sound packs or loop club content on www.esoundz.com Maybe a lot!marre wrote:With all these great loop libraries coming out from SR, I wonder when/how IK will respond regarding better looping facilities in Sampletank, e.g. drag and drop of wav/rex files (no need to import) and perhaps even a slicer function (mmmm...)? Sampletank definetly has a lot of great loop tools (+ the great effects section and midi control capabilities) but there's some unfulfilled potential. I guess a slicer function doesn't fit in the overall design of the product (although I would like to see one and a program editor) but it'd be cool to be able to use rex files and play around with the slices...Squids wrote:You aren't the only one using loops in SampleTank. Would be great, if you have any influence on ST development...? Doubtless, everybody would benefit: users, IK, and SR. I've placed two "support tickets" at IK concerning improved import but they never replied.

Well yes, he does, I'm sure about it. At least the IK people in charge of "strategy" will listen to him.trixie wrote:Would be great, if you have any influence on ST development...?
Hey, they even emulated his private effect devices in AT2
I call that influence....

Geezzzz!
I forgot all about loops and SampleTank. Somebody refresh me if they would. What's the basic process? Do they just get imported as Wav files by SampleTank. Can this be done with the Wav elements ofthe REX Packs?

The RAW Style Paks you mean? No. I don't think so actually. Maybe. But, if not then in a future update that will change. More info on that to come. We are considering making SampleTank versions of the loops in the RAW series though for convenience. They will probably be available on www.esoundz.com exclusively though... maybe on an IK site too. We'll see!dgkenney wrote:Geezzzz!

Sorry...that's exactly what I meant..RAW loops. Yeah, that would be cool having them avaialble in ST format on eSoundz.Squids wrote:The RAW Style Paks you mean? No. I don't think so actually. Maybe. Wouldn't it be more convenient to be able to use the REX files you buy in a sampler/player you prefer, be it SampleTank, Kontakt, One, etc.? Converting the RAW series into ST instruments is nice but it hardly deals with our problem: that we are stuck with a limited soundset in a proprietary format.

R.A.W. itself is designed to be non-proprietary and universally compatible. That's not to say that with some special programming in ST though that they couldn't be idea for use in that particular format. For example, the loop experiments that I've done in ST format have the loop and then all of the slices mapped across the keyboard with separate midi files (kind of like how the NNXT reads a Rex2 file). But, the unique thing about ST format is that each slice has a zone that can be given a different sample playback engine. So, one note could be stretched and other could be something else... there's a lot of possibilities for this extra effort in ST format for people who want to use SampleTank 2 for loops. For anyone who wants to use our loops in the R.A.W. formats AND proprietary ST2 format programming that we'll be doing on esoundz then there will be ways to get it cheaper (or maybe we'll simply just put our ST2 stuff into Loop Club which is something we talked about here). Or maybe there will be some other options.trixie wrote:Wouldn't it be more convenient to be able to use the REX files you buy in a sampler/player you prefer, be it SampleTank, Kontakt, One, etc.? Sampletank could really be THE loop tool. Or are there perhaps plans for a "Looptank"? It'd be kind of cool with all ST2 technology in a more loop oriented vsti with a waveform view, slicing, drag'n'drop of midi files... mmm...
