Need Recommendation for a good bass plug in

I am working on a bass track that I need to accentuate the slap on. It's sounding muddy and no amount of EQ seems to be doing it for me. I'm looking toi accentuate the higher frequencies for a percussive effect.

Have you tried compressing it? Some steep compression can really bring out the percussive sounds. You might even want to try some heavy compression and then mix it back in with the dry signal.

Compressed the daylights out of it. I think it's more of a frequency problem. It sounds thuddy. When I raise the treble it sounds nasal. I want to get trebly slap effect without losing low end.

Strings have about four hours on them - not brand new.

The bass is a Carlo Robelli that I got at Sam Ash. Capable of getting a good bass sound, I think, but certainly not a great bass.

I suggest to retry the Compressor And play with the attack setting.....about 50 ms or more to get the punch........

If its really a frequency problem and you cant fix it with EQ, then I believe your bass doesnt have the character you try to give to it!

A short clip could help a lot to !

if you can post a sample of what your bass currently sounds like, and a sample of what you're trying to achieve, it might help us come up with some more suggestions as to where the problem is and/or what can be done.

Don't laugh, OK? But sometimes I layer VB-1 with other synths to get a slappish sound .
