Upright bass?

Hi everyone!

I'm in (fast) need of an upright bass. Sample based or not, don't care as long as the sound is good.

Also because I'm in a hurry I could use a download option. I'm with broadband so don't have any problem in downloading Gbs...

I'm looking for a jazz sound (as you might've guessed).

As for the price... dunno relaly, but wouldn't want to spend a lot... after all I'm looking for a SINGLE bass sound really... (everything esle will come as a bonus :D)

Any ideas on where can I get such a thing?

Any pointers? Any companies you know? My knowledge is kinda limited really, os Chris Heims and a couple of more that I know do not have what I'm looking for. But there must be something.

Linkys please?

Many thanks :)

The echochamber free samples are pretty good; EXS format, but the WAV files are included, so you can build-your-own if needed.

there's a nice bass in plugsoundfree

Post

hmm, I can't seem to find the free version on their site anymore...damn, and I wanted to reinstall it.

Yeah, the plugsoundfree upright bass sounded good... but it was only 2 octaves, and above C3 there was a mbira or something, so not too good for jazz.

Sometimes I layer that with a patch from Sampletank and one from Kontakt. Though I am not very happy with it, it certainly won't do for solo.
If you can't beat your computer at chess, try kick-boxing.

There's always Trilogy.

Hmmm... trilogy huh? At 350$? It is a bit out of my budget at the moment, but thanks for the recomendation... I never thought of that.

I did download the echochamber ones and the wav files sound ok (the B1 is corrupted a bit to the end and had to edit it though...), With CDXtract I could make it to any sampler I want...

Other than that I think that I will try them echochamber ones and wait for Greg Schlaepfer to do his job (which I know personally that is a brilliant one...).

Thank you for your help, and of course any other ideas are most welcome. Since the echochamber isfree I do still have time to research a little more (while trying out them on Cubase as we speak...)

Thanks again.

I was quite tempted by Part 3 of Abstrakt: Bass by Soniccouture (8 basses for £30, including an upright). Can anyone recommend it?

Thanks :)

As I said, I trust blindfolded Greg for his bass playing and sampling capabilities and support him 100%. I'm ok with echochamber at the moment for trying out things and see how far I can go with the pitch bend as a tool for vibrato (:S pretty difficult but it's fun when you have time... I don't :()

Thank you. Awaiting impatiently really :D

for the vsampler version aftertouch controls zone volume and this can be easily used for nice vibrato.

The free version of Sampletank has an upright bass that isn't too bad.

Manyguitar has basses. I think someone at k-v-r is selling theirs for $50.00.

No doubt, the Upright mic'd with a U47 samples are amazing....you get almost every nuance of the upright sound, triggered appropriately by controller velocity, good stuff.
Even though it may be a bit out of your budget, Spectrasonics products are wayyy UNDERpriced...you get ridiculously good sounds/tools for the little bit they charge for them...alot of people don't truly understand what they're plugs are really capable of.

Good luck.
