Having a forum in this age of the internet is really important and good for the company as there's alot of good (and bad) feedback that comes out of it that could be a tremendous help for IK for planning future products and making current ones better, SO...it should be more considered as a support tool for the operation rather than a P.I.A. I've already sent a few tickets on various issues and I'll tell you that doing that does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling that someone is listening..it's like yelling in a canyon and waiting for the echo to come back. There's a reason why KVR has over 100,000 members (and other popular forums as well). Because we simply like to interact with each other. Basic sociology at work here...nothing complicated.
TBH - I'm surprised they don't have a forum up & running already. I've set up 2 vBulletin forums myself and it took me about a good 1/2 day or more to set up the basics with a few categories, announcements, etc.
SQUIDS - my 2 cents here - you need to get the IK Tech folks involved here as this is going to benefit them more than anyone. Things are going to be dead slow at the beginning until more folks get wind of the forum and then you'll have the likes of us who will be visiting the forum on a regular basis and other folks that don't visit KVR, but will visit IK Forum - from there, the Tech Guys can approach any of the active members to become a moderator. Some folks would be interested in Miroslav and not Amplitube, so those guys will only be interested in moderating that specific forum. I really can't see anyone better than nominating a couple of IK Tech guys that are familiar with these types of forums (you included), to kick it off. Once things get rolling and more people sign up and create threads, then you can take it the next step. But it won't help talking about it...let's get the ball rollin' and deal with the road bump when we get to it.
Anyway...that's my 2 cents.
Cheers....
