Nice examples, thanks Chris. This is really close to the original (and it's fun to listen to your specific examples!).c_huelsbeck wrote: ... I played already quite a bit with the demo and decided to make a little comparison mp3 with some of my favourite classic ESQ1 / SQ80 sounds ...
Also my biggest respect to the developers of this plug

You would not believe the midi hoops I jumped through to get this done. There are a few more files but I think they are all dupes. It'd be nice to get to 80 banks though... There may be one or two dupes in the last bunch, I'm a little burnt. Enjoy.

Great mp3 Chris! Virtually all the sounds were extremely close except one bell-like tone that was very muffled sounding on the 'B' side. Probably just opening the filter a bit would fix it though.
And btw, I second Compyfox's request of some Turrican presets

I played already quite a bit with the demo and decided to make a little comparison mp3 with some of my favourite classic ESQ1 / SQ80 sounds:
http://www.yousendit.com/download/M6mjInC3BIc%3D
Example A is always my hardware SQ80, and example B is the plugin playing the same sound.
If the download doesn't work anymore, let me know...
I think it sounds already very close to the original (enough to be more than useful in fact). I am sooo excited about this!!!!!!! Pretty much all my classic favourite synths are now available as plugins - Korg, PPG, Prophet, SQ80 - I think I'm in heaven!

Thank you very much indeed for all of these soundbanks and the work that went into converting them.
The plugin itself is a great thing.
Having all these sounds to play with and use raises it to an entirely different level.
THANKS!

Guess I've solved my problem. This plugin seems to be troublesome if installed by an admin user and run by a different (unprivileged) user.HiEnergy wrote:Will try uninstalling and re-installing the plugin next.
Does it perhaps need admin privs to work properly? Or some other special treatment after installation?
...
I solved the problem by changing access rights to SQ8L's VST subfolder and registry subkey to include full access by the unprivileged user, then reinstalling the plugin logged in as that user.
Not only does SQ8L look beautiful, it also sounds very nice.
Feel the energy...

----A bump for an Ensoniq (copy or whatever) vst, I actually have the hardware SQ-80 model, and it's umm, not my cup of tea, but it makes a solid controller keyboard anyways.
I'm still waiting for a Fizmo vst, hint-hint, anyone ??

My pleasure or more correctly obsession. I couldn't wait to get it done. I hope everybody enjoys this fine emulation of this great synth and finds something inspiring in the patch banks.Sequent wrote:Thank you very much indeed for all of these soundbanks and the work that went into converting them.

Indeed it's a happy happy day for the VST community.
