First eXT track post!

I been kinda doing drum mangling externally then bringing it into eXT but I said the heck with it, and this track is 100% eXT programmed.

I guess you could call it "mental-metal" but I really hate to give names. For the most part its got a mix of metal and idm elements (and some classical at the end?). First time I'ever dabbled in this form of trickery, however eXT prooved to be a formidable ally in the creation of this one. I'm not sure I could have pulled this one off in any other sequencer as I was peaking out at like 80% CPU usage and had to keep a good portion of it frozen at all times.

Any feedback either :) or :x will make me :love:

that rocks, acid1

love the attitude, love the variations. The guitar sound is a bit pussy tho.

@funkadil - Thanks! The effects you are talking about were actually done in reaktor, resynth module.

@.jon - Thanks! Well the best I could do with the guitar sound as that I didn't have a guitar, it was actullay just a minimonsta going into a series of distortions, I really wish I could afford a decent guitar and become an expert guitar player instantly however :P

It's great, but I miss a bass. I think if you program a bass as good as the rest you've got a killer piece :wink:

I don't understand this music at all.

While I like it, I don't like this anywhere near as much as Smegma. I probably like it a little more than Illuminati. I feel Smegma manages it's beat warping in a way that still keeps rhythm, whereas this goes a bit wilder. In some ways I like it but others I'm not sure.

The general consensus from my mix of opinions is that I like it! I feel it would've been better with some kind of bass as well, like Diek.

@Diek - Great idea! I haven't really noodled with programming a bass guitar before, would prolly be a seperate project as I doubt I will bring myself to open that song again unless its a quick tweak but thats something I'll definatly concider for an experiment

@PTV & S.HUSH - Glad you liked it!

@SleepyP - Me neither really, it is what it is tho.

@druid - Wow where the heck did you hear Illuminati and Smegma? Neither was really released. Smegma wound up on some mixtape, but I thought I kept Illuminati pretty well buried. Anyways, these 3 songs all had pretty different points and different directions. Illuminati actually had a live guitarist and I told him what to play, and we were kinda trying to make dancable music. Smegma was 3 seperate experiments that I just kinda copied and pasted together. The beat warping that you are referring to was an experiment in itself where I linked pitch+time together and triggered random envelopes on beat hits. This one had pretty conscious automated mangling. I also played these guitars live (on a midi keyboard) and did my own physical modelling. There actually is some real low subass in the first half of the song and kinda removed it as the chellos came in, but since the focus of a lot of my songs is synthesized bass, I was trying something new. Thanks for the feedback and comparitive analysis, and yeah it kinda scares me that you have some of my music :D

acid1, great job with the guitar emu! Really like the way it kind of comes together at the end.

enjoy! :)

p.s.: done in ableton live (using eXT VSTs), but mastered in eXT SA entirely
