From the readme... It's in the install dir.

Code: Select all

The SQ8L ("L" stands for "Light") is the free demo version of the
forthcoming SQ8X ("X" for "eXtended"). Besides any bugs that will
(hopefully) be removed in the full version (see "Known problems")
and planned features that won't find their way into the light
version (see "Things to come..."), there are only a few
   limitations. Those are:

      - Polyphony limited to 8 voices.
      - Program change messages ignored.
      - Common MIDI controllers (Master Volume, Pan,...) by default
have no effect and must be programmed as Modulators.
      - When used with a sequencer, the only sound the Host can save
within the song file is the one in the edit buffer. The full
version will store the entire library (which makes sense
when program change messages are used).
      - LFO humanization not implemented.
      - No Split/Layer to combine several sounds.
      - No internal sequencer (and there will never be one).

No, not me. Most of these banks except for maybe 10 factory carts came with a PD editor I picked up a long time ago. The names have changed over the years so I'm not sure what is what anymore. It's great to have them now though! :hyper:

ah. thanks for the paste. those aren't super bad limits at all. the original was only 8 poly right?

wonderful gift. amazing how much generousity exists in music scene..

Post

hrm. i cant get the osc1 to have a slow attack. i've set dca to be modulated by env1, and set attack to +63 and level to 63, but it isn't a slow attack..

8 voice poly-tembral. You could play 8 different sounds @ 1-voice each! :hihi: I'm totally blown away by this one. :)

ahh env4... :D

HOLY CRAP.

My first synth was an ESQ-1, and it was really my only synth ever, and I played it for years. Up until recently it was my MIDI controller!

This VSTi is really taking me back...taking me back to a lot of crappy music that I once wrote. It has a serious nostalgic affect on me!

Holy crap - thanks to tomg for the presets...the factory presets are what really brought me back.

Now if someone can create a VST effect that emulates crappy 4-track cassette recording and the degradation of audio caused by ping-pong recording (complete with its irreversible bad mixing choices) well then, I can finally recreate my old masterpieces completely in the digital domain.

Still got the ESQ-1 here - the second battery is dying, so I will need to replace it. I can just feel the envy of those of you who gave away your old ESQ-1.

Thanks for the alert!

Env 4 is for the VCA.

EDIT: Too slow. :hihi:
