*sigh* Again... Aight look, complain towards the firms or the creators of the VSTi's - not me. I got (written!) confirmation that these are emulations, but due to some limitations they used ADSR rather than 8stage envelopes.

If you don't like that, go with M51 Galaxxy for now, it has a complete PD engine built in - and we will see what the future brings in terms of emulations. Don't blame me, I only reflect what the firms write me.

Thanks! Back on topic please.

:hihi:

I second that. I also want Korg Poly 800 VSTi (including its one-voice VCF and able to load original programs from tapes or sysex, or retyping original values from patch sheets at least). The emulations so far available cover character of the Poly-800 sound, but are not compatible in any way of reproducing the same patches. Moreover Poly-850 VSTi has sampled waveforms that are spectral distorted by pich shifting (A4 is bright, but C5 is dull and A5 is again bright because of pitch shifting one sample per octave I think, shame :-(
BTW there is no other instrument sounding like Korg Poly-800.

I think TR-505 is pretty simple, but if it would have its pattern editor and added multioutput capability, would be fun to use - some samples on net are very bad quality, but some of them are really good and sounds fat through decent short reverb.

Their already is a Poly-800 Emu in the form of the Synapse Poly-850 VSTi and its as close to the real deal as you can get with a software version! 8) Give it a try

Speaking of the ROM dumps. I wouldn't mind sneaking the raw waveforms into the synth I'm working on. Any idea how they are arranged in that ROM?

Sorry, I don't want to start flames here :-) but Synapse Poly-850 VSTi is the one I mentioned in my first post and although it "sounds like Poly-800" but it is not near to its parameters and quality.
Belive me, I had got three Poly-800s and two EX-800 in past. It is not simply possible to recreate most of the original patches, there are some simple or "pretty" sounds that can substitute original synth, but other sounds is almost impossible to mimick using Poly-850 VSTi. ( Make or select plain patch (preferably the bright one, then try to play note by note through the whole keyboard scale from bottom to top and listen to timbre, it jumps on octave borders, something that oscilators never do :-) SQ8L VSTi doesn't do it too.)
Reaktor ensemble, Poly-700 I think is much more close to original but still not enough.

Anyone can say, it doesn't matter which synth you choose to get standard DCO/VCF/ADSR type (substracting) synthesizer - millions of VSTis are here, but as in HW world even in SW there is something "IN" than classic oscillator-filter(ADSR)-amplifier(ADSR) that makes the sound different. Oberheim, Roland, Korg, Moog - cannot make the same sound - can mimick the other one's character, but they are unique in some aspect of its design each other. You know what I mean.

I like Poly-800 sound and its capabilities, but as we are happy to be able to use our old original SQ/ESQ patches and use them as they sound the same from this great SQ8L VSTi, the same way I would (and as mentioned earlier here, there are other users too) be happy to be able to use my library of my original Korg Poly-800 patches. (My EX800 - module version - has died during water flood by near river in 2002 :-(

Wow, Sorry for long posting, that moreover doesn't solve anything here :-(

OK, OK, calm down. I'm not making a personal attack on you or your world of emulations (which is a very cool idea, but you must accept that it's begging for scrutiny!), I'm just speaking aloud about a gross misunderstanding of the CZ line. If you take away the envelopes it is NOT a CZ emu, plain and simple. The little dudes only have so much character to offer, and once you remove the ONE THING (beyond the PD) that makes them different, you're left with just a PD synth, not a CZ. If you take the filter out of a MiniMoog, it ain't a Mini. If you take 2 voices out of Prophet 5, it ain't a P5. And if you take the envelopes out of a CZ, it ain't a CZ anymore. It's just a fact.

As for what confirmations people send you, remind me to send you one of my "Emporer of the World" business cards. I'm just blapping out in general about this CZ mess, no personal or professional attack intended - but if you find the shoe fits... :) Now, back on topic!

well..the M51 Galaxy DOES have 8 stage envelopes like the CZ, and was even based around the real deal, as the DR has a real one in front of him :-) But to be all in honest, its more of a clone of our M42 nebula, but with PD oscillators and custom modules, and not a CZ emulation..although you might be surprized on whats ahead on the algomusic block :-)

but to stay on topic..I find this SQ8 emulation really fanatastic!(But I miss the little sequencer :-)

I finally decided to check this out today -- I had never played an Ensoniq and had never known they had any particular mystique, so I didn't think I'd get excited.

This is a quite awesome plugin. Good work on the patch conversion and such too :)

In a full version I'd want the option of a friendlier, less 80's GUI more than I'd want any other feature listed on the site, but I guess I can just pretend to be a time traveler :)

Here is a little SQ8L jam i made today. The rythm is StylusRMX and the only FX is reverb
http://upload2.net/page/download/sJ04My ... M.mp3.html

And i must shout out loud...THIS IS A FANTASTIC SQ80 EMULATION !!!
I just can't believe my ears, i have tried many of my sound banks in this great vsti and it just sound as my beloved Ensoniq SQ80 with all the thickness and warmth and even the freaking little details is nailed in allmost every patch.
Some of my patches has been made by tweaking the SQ80 to it's outer limits but they just sound as the hardware...!!
I simply can't understan how this can be done.

The only complaint i have is the release envelope that dies to fast and i have said that to Sigfried.

Sigfried, you have made an very impressive work here and i really think that this must be the best hardware clone ever !

Thank you thank you thank you.... :-)

For all of those realthing-emulations lovers exists something... :

And... yes, I'd be very happy using a 1 page editor and visual ADSR editing...
