Hi there,

I'm looking for some nice shaku notes (samples yes). If anyone could point me out some sample cd which would have rather powerful shaku samples in Enigma style. I purchased ILIO wordwinds but I was rather dissapointed to the shaku samples on it. Thanks.

There is a free soundfont called "Flute enigma" [Flute Enigma (282KB).SF2] available from sf2midi.com. Registration (also free) is required for download.

As far as I know, the Enigma flute is a romanian pan flute or nai (how we call it). Maybe that's way you have been dissapointed, you were looking for the wrong instrument!

Here is a list of flutes soundfonts.

Also you may check this VSTi flute emu to see if it's any good: DAL Flute.

And another soundfont http://www.ts-central.com/banksets/ticonpanflute.sfark

I did not used them, so I don not know if they're any good!

All the best!

Seem that you are right.
According to Wikipedia all the flutes parts in all of his songs are created with the shakuhachi. Weird! Yes, I know that he also used shakuhachi in many of his songs, but I remember reading an article were he said that for The Screen Behind the Mirror he used mainly pan flutes for the flutes parts.

And with Peter Gabriel flute you are right also.

Well, my mistake, at least I learned something :D

Well, if you buy NOSTALGIA from ZERO-G you'll have that sampled instruments (and a lot more...). I mean not an emulation... EXACTLY the Enigma Shaku... If you like shaku on the old "Camel Trophy" tv spot... well buy an 2nd hand Roland D50. The Shakuhacy preset is what they have used.

I have a cd of samples as home which I think was a purchase a few years ago which has single notes and loops.

I will check later and come back to you.

The disk was call Shakuhachi from Sampleshop24 but I've had a look and it looks like the site has gone or is offline.
