LFO 3 is controlling the filter cutoff, while the sound has a very long release parameter (T4) for ENV 4 (overall volume envelope).

You can do all kinds of echo and reverb effects with the many Envelopes and LFOs that the ESQ1/SQ80 has. I made a song in 1988 with just one ESQ1 and a RX7 drum machine using the internal sequencer and recorded it directly to a compact cassette. No studio, no multitracking or anything else... here's the recording:

The audio wasn't working here either, till I did the config suggested in the readme file (even though I used the setup program).

3. Run "regedit.exe" and find the entry:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SQ8L".
It should contain the variables "path_data", "path_dll",
"path_user" which all are set to "c:".
Now change those paths according to where you copied the files before.

Maybe give that a shot? Working beautifully here now

Thanks... to be fair, I released this very track on CD a number of years later and gave my cassette recording to a professional mastering studio, so they cleaned the hiss and other problems up quite a bit. This is an mp3 from the CD track...

Just ran regedit.exe and reassinged all the paths after a manual folder install and she is going like the clappers...

BTW : "path_data" , "path_dll" and "path_user" all had the correct file paths.
The default file path was the one causing the problem here as it installed without one what so ever.

Might I add this sounds very close to the original synth to these ears (but I'm only going from memory).
Can't believe an emu could get this close.

Since the 2k esq collection only goes up to ESQ-048, I thought it less confusing to name the remaining banks somewhat as they are named on the web. I've also included documentation on all the patch names within each bank. I forwent the idea to group them into banks of 3, and instead just included the syx files so this could be done however a person wanted.

This collection ended up with 101 banks. I've still got a few banks that need to be sorted, and suspect they'll be full of dupes, so this should do for now.

Damn, Chris, that's so much better than the ESQ-1 tunes I was making as a teen back in the 80s!! Great stuff - has a lot of retro/nostalgia charm.

I should dig up my old 4-track tapes and find some ESQ-1 stuff for everyone to laugh at...
