Standalone, Yes

And with risk of getting flamed, I hope they keep the iKey as an option (I prefer being able to use my license on any DAW, than having to authorize each and every one....)

No more Ikey for AmpliTube 2.1 Also, the AmpliTube 2 Live that comes with the StealthPlug does not need a dongle either (so it can also be used without the Stealth interface). All good stuff!

Please buy it from www.esoundz.com

Thanks!

I posted this in the effects thread on AT2 but will do so here in case it can save anybody some frustration, AT2.1 is working fine in Live 6 and as a standalone but is not playing nice with SOnar 6, COuld be something particular to my set-up but it's odd that it would work in another host.

I'm off to post a support ticket in IK

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

Squids, do you know if the dongle is going to disappear from Ampeg as well?

a couple things to be aware of:
authorizations have been reduced to 4 and you need a new one when you update to 2.1
also - when i installed 2.1 it reverted my instance of it to default, i had to re-create my patch since i hadn't saved it as a preset..

I wonder what went wrong with using Syncrosoft? AFAIK it still has not been cracked (apart from an early version - and that soon rectified). I wonder if it's really impacting on sales that much? If anything there seems to have been a sea change on people's attitudes to at least Syncrosoft dongles recently - hell even I have 2 now :) (though tbh I never had a strong ideological hatred of them - indeed I still have an old Logic one - it was more fear of the horror stories that turned out to be unfounded in the case of Syncrosoft)

I also had Sonar 6 crashing when loading old tunes that use AT2. However what seems to work, is to load the song with shift pressed, so that Sonar asks for each plugin to be loaded, then load all but AT2, insert (a) new AT2 instance(s) and resave the song. After that it loads and plays fine again on my system. Maybe worth giving it a try...

I also had Tracktion2 crashing when loading old tunes that use AT2.
If I force it to load it becomes unstable.
There is work around, I just delete AT2 and reload it.

Although I've been too busy working in Vista x64 for work purposes to take the time to boot into XP to test out the patch, I wanted to drop in and say thanks for stand alone. I don't know what else (like patch change automation per chance?) might have been addressed. But, as a big complainer about some implementation issues of 1.0 I thought I'd let IK know that I appreciate the effort. So, please pass it on Squids.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Nothing went wrong with it. The products have all been quite successful. But, people seem to be happier that it no longer has a dongle and a lot of people asked for it. Also, now you can download the demo without needing to buy a hardware key so... it's better in a lot of ways. It will reach even more people now and it goes back to the trust of people using their software and sounds legitimately and buying the products they use. No one wants to punish loyal users with making them use a dongle. It's a balance between your protection or inconveniencing the user of your product... ultimately the product IS for THEM so you have to have your priorities I guess. IK chose to make it easier for the user. I hope that is noticed because a lot of this kind of "customer's first" philosophy comes from my influence over the years... which many of you on KVR have seen the evolution and changes since SR has had a strong relationship with IK... not that I want to take too much of the credit. In fact, the civil and productive atmosphere of our forum here on KVR and the great attitude of those who make constructive comments has helped just as much shape the way things are with some companies that listen like IK. Not all companies care enough to bother and just work in a vacuum. You KNOW I am the opposite of that way of thinking, since I am here almost everyday ready to listen and talk with anyone who uses SR or related products. I WANT to know what you guys want... if you think about it what company WOULDN'T want to know???? But, perhaps surprisingly you don't see them coming out into forums to talk about it with you (apart from the cool developer community with the KVR company forums)
