forgot to mention a couple of things, fruity loops edisons really only caveat is that it won't let you drag slices from it and drop them into ableton Live, and that does suck moose balls, but it will allow you to drag and drop anywhere inside itself. the other thing is that the mpc-1000 will has grid editing, and will have much doper grid editing and a piano roll before christmas in an os update. initialy the os is $30 bucks
but they are lifetime free after that, they are very useful and powerful updates as well as very often., in the few months i've had mine i've gone from os version 3.06 to version 4.15 and each update has added major features. before christmas we should see version 4.20 and you can check mpcforums.com to see what the update will include as well as what the current os will allow you to do.

wow!! thanks so much for all of the information!! I am VERY new to the whole sampling thing so trying to understand the language of what these different programs can do in the technical terms is difficult but these explanations are certainly very helpful...
why next question is what are the MAIN features of samplers that I should be paying attention to in order to differentiate between all of these ssamplers when I am trying to figuere out what is best for me? Again, I need something that can slice, can time stetch, pitch stretch, and auto-chromatic (very important) so i can basically make my own instruments. I see a lot of these samplers that come with huge sample libraries (kontakt, battery, guru). I don't think I need a huge library if i can just get samples from online libraries that I can use to make drums and auto-chromatic to create my instruments and then tkae samples to slice from vinyls or songs in other formats. Do you think this is a good approach? I jsut dont want to pay a ton of extra money for a sampler that has a ton of sounds when a sampler with no sounds has the SAME feautures (or at least the ones im looking for) with no sounds. Ideas???? Thanks guys
