Hi all,

Well, after a while I decide to tidy up my disks.I had installed the ST2.1 Library alongside the ST2.0 Library and have now decided to delete the old ST2.0 Library.

But first, I thought I would compare the two to see what had changed. This info might be interesting/helpful to others:

As an aside, I have found that files ending .stv is produced when ST2 runs a "pre-analysis" on an instrument. (see section 7.3 in the ST2.2 manual)

Now what I found for the Libraries:
Bass
- all OK,
- the Afro Bass preset (part of Muted J Bass) was renamd to Funkman,
- there are some more presets

Brass - is split into 2 folders, Brass and Winds, in v2.1
- 2.1 did not contain the Full Brass Section, so I copied over the three files. Its 3 presets Brass of Brass, Punchy Brass, Swell Brass Section were already in v2.1,
- 2.1 did not contain the Saxophones section so I copied its 3 files into Winds; I also moved its Saxahornz preset from v2.1 Brass to Winds'
- 2.1 did not contain the Tenor Sax 2 so I copied its 3 files to Winds, and also its 3 presets, StreJazz Tenor, Tenna Tube Le, Wiiild Night,
- 2.1 did not contain the Tenor Sax 3 so I copied it to Winds and also its 8 presets - Bend 5 Tenor, Beyond Synthsax, Reedtronic Synth, SaxSynth, SaxSynth 2, Squirly Corner Sax, Sull tree Sax, Tenor Up Sax
- 2.1 did not contain the Trombone section so I copied its 3 files to v2.1 Brass; its Thick Trombones preset is already there
- 2.1 did not contain the Trumpets Solo 2, so I copied its 3 files to v2.1 Brass; its 3 presets, Hassle Isham, Le Salsa Quesadilla, Trumpet Up are already there,

Brass - phrases - all OK,
Drums - Acoustic - all OK, many more presets in v2.1,
Drums - Electronic - all OK,
Ethinc - some new Instruments, pipa, qudi, yangqin, zheng, and many new presets,
Guitar - acoustic - all OK,
Guitar - electric - all OK, more presets,
Loop - all Ok, the Percussion Sliced Instruments were added in v2.1,

Orchestra
- one new instrument in v2.1- harpsichords 2,
- v2.1 did not contain the Brassy Ztringz preset, so I copied it over. But it belongs to the Comp String Orchestra instrument, rather than the Brassy Strings instrument which seems a bit odd.
- Ensem Strings has been renamed to Trem Ensem Strings in v2.1,
- Staccato String Orch 1 & 2 has been renamed to Legato String Orch 1 & 2, in v2.1,
- Strings FF Trem has been renamed to Oct Strings FF Trem in v2.1,

Organ
- 4 new instruments: Church Organ Full, Full Cathedral Organ, reed Cathedral Organ, Smooth Flute organ,
- some new presets too

Percussion - some new presets

Piano
- Hard Rhodes is renamed to Hard Rds EP in v2.1
- Lite Rhodes is renamed to Lite Rds EP in v2.1
- Rhodes Electric Stage Piano.stw is renamed to Rds EP Stage Piano in v2.1

Strings - All OK, some new presets,
Synth - nearly all OK, some new presets
Synth - piano
- V2.1 did not contain the Synth Ep 2 preset, but it seems to be an orphan, I could not find it associated with any instrument)
Vocals
- 1 new instrument: Oh Baby Stretched,
- V2.1 did not have the Vocals\Phrases folder so I copied it from V2.0 to a new "Vocal Phrases" folder in V2.1 (moving it up a level

Leave the "old" samples on the HD for those projects that were already started and also installing the new samples is possible, I assume?

Yes, I installed the 2.1 sounds alongside the original library.

I have ST2.2 using the 2.1 library
and ST2.0.9 (in older songs) using the original library (for the moment anyway).

I should have said earlier:
As well as the changes I listed above, many of the sounds were updated, but kept the same names.
