Hey Squids, since you brought it up, I want a 100W Marshall Plexi, a Fender Twin, and a models of a Proco Rat, a Boss DS-1, OD-1, and DD-1 in AT2. Oh, and the same rack section in Ampeg as in AT2 so I can use the compressor after the amp. Oh and the ability to use the rack effects in the stomp locations and vice versa in both programs. Oh, and a pony! And these should all be free (especially the pony). Kidding, kidding...I kid the Squids.

You might want to update the esoundz page that lists A2...Squids wrote:No more Ikey for AmpliTube 2.1 Also, the AmpliTube 2 Live that comes with the StealthPlug does not need a dongle either (so it can also be used without the Stealth interface). All good stuff!
Please buy it from www.esoundz.com
Thanks!

Nice to see IK step back from dongles. I'll at least consider A2 now.
Oh - and a short article from Bruce Schneier on copy protection for software:

We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

I am now a potential customer. Amplitube and CSR both interest meSquids wrote:
Nothing went wrong with it. The products have all been quite successful. But, people seem to be happier that it no longer has a dongle and a lot of people asked for it. Also, now you can download the demo without needing to buy a hardware key so... it's better in a lot of ways. It will reach even more people now and it goes back to the trust of people using their software and sounds legitimately and buying the products they use. No one wants to punish loyal users with making them use a dongle. It's a balance between your protection or inconveniencing the user of your product... ultimately the product IS for THEM so you have to have your priorities I guess. IK chose to make it easier for the user. I hope that is noticed because a lot of this kind of "customer's first" philosophy comes from my influence over the years... which many of you on KVR have seen the evolution and changes since SR has had a strong relationship with IK... not that I want to take too much of the credit. In fact, the civil and productive atmosphere of our forum here on KVR and the great attitude of those who make constructive comments has helped just as much shape the way things are with some companies that listen like IK. Not all companies care enough to bother and just work in a vacuum. You KNOW I am the opposite of that way of thinking, since I am here almost everyday ready to listen and talk with anyone who uses SR or related products. I WANT to know what you guys want... if you think about it what company WOULDN'T want to know???? But, perhaps surprisingly you don't see them coming out into forums to talk about it with you (apart from the cool developer community with the KVR company forums)

Well, it's a good time to buy them with the December promo IK is doing. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/Main.html?1 ... /index.phppdxindy wrote:I am now a potential customer. Amplitube and CSR both interest meSquids wrote:

You can pick any of those up from www.esoundz.com or any IK dealer world-wide.

No offense meant to you Squids, and I am grateful for your intervention, but IK's reasons for a backflip seem pathetic. It was obvious before AT2 was released that all these things were issues, and IK went ahead with it anyway. Now that they have realised it months down the track, I see it as more of a "f**k your opinion" to those that spoke about it in the first place. To me it says, why bother saying anything, IK will do what they want regardless of what users say, and will only change their minds when it suits them.Squids wrote:But, people seem to be happier that it no longer has a dongle and a lot of people asked for it. P.S. I am not really angry about it. That's just the way big companies are. But I just don't buy the "our customers are so important and we listen to you" story.

WTF is going on here tonight? Is there a full moon or something? Squids has desparately been trying to play Santa Claus, announcing the various IK/SR promos and freebies and changes in policy regarding dongles, and everyone keeps knocking him down. But like a 'weeble' he keeps popping right up with more good news. Give it a rest.morelia wrote:No offense meant to you Squids, and I am grateful for your intervention, but IK's reasons for a backflip seem pathetic. If the change in corporate policy is a little late, so what? They came around. In my experience, to get any big company to make a U-turn on any policy takes enormous effort and time.
And now, if you've held off on buying AT2 until now, guess what? You can now take advantage of the huge PROMO going on and get a whole raft of goodies with it. To me, this sounds like GOOD news.
Lighten up and enjoy the music!
Cheers

No full moon syndrome here. I have 2 IK Dongled products. So it hasn't stopped me buying them. Just that backflips shit me when there are many people that opposed it to begin with.BERFAB wrote:morelia wrote:No offense meant to you Squids, and I am grateful for your intervention, but IK's reasons for a backflip seem pathetic.
And one more time for the record. This has nothing to do with Squids, who is a stand up dude and someone I wouldn't hesitate to buy from. In fact all the IK products I use (ATLive, AT1, AT2, CSR, Sampletank via SS1) were bought through esounds, a situation I am completely happy with. And he has done a lot for his and IK's customers that I fully appreciate.

I think I may be the only person who is now taking IK products off the list of potential software. I was very happy they went with the Syncrosoft dongle, it is way less hassle than their challenge / response technique.
I can live with C/R, but as I understand it, IK only allow 4 reauthorizations ... does that mean, that after 4 new requests (maybe change of hardware, reinstall of OS which I do often), I won't be able to use the software any more ?
I'm looking at replacing my Guitarport with Amplitube 2. I already have a Syncrosoft dongle for Cubase and it works flawlessly.
Thanks in advance for the help

No. I used up my registrations because of hardware changes. I had to email IK explaining mysituation and they put another three registrations on my IK page.soundpalace wrote:does that mean, that after 4 new requests (maybe change of hardware, reinstall of OS which I do often), I won't be able to use the software any more?
