IMO there should be an alternative GUI for the full version, making it easier for non-SQ80-users to work with it. More parameters on a single page, probably even indicating the signal flow.

Hah! - I must admit I love the GUI because I used the ESQ-1 for years! It's exactly the same. One thing I might like to see on the GUI is the page buttons as they appeared on the ESQ-1, which basically show you the signal flow. Here's a photo from the net:

But unfortunately it's rather blurry. It's the part with the yellow lines that really summarizes the whole thing well. OSC1-3 go through DCA1-3 (with the option of amplitude modulation and sync between OSC1 and 2), then all go to the filter and on to the final volume envelope DCA4. The other buttons below that allow you to access the pages for LFOs and envelopes.

I think just having this picture of the signal flow available on the GUI would help out a lot.

Given all the parameters and modulation routings of this thing, I think it might be hard to put everything on one page. But I can see how you would hate this if you weren't used to the ESQ-1 or SQ80! I must admit having some fondness for the layout. This thing is so nostalgic for me...which I know isn't always a good thing!

That's close to how i like it to be...(remember the scroll bar to se whole picture)

But i'm pretty shure that Sigi wont disapoint us with the finished SQ8X.

You know, I have an ESQ-1 sitting in my closet. I had no idea it would be this popular.

Well...according to an estimate at www.prepal.com, you can get a whopping...180 bucks for it. Damn.

I was expecting about 100 dollars less for it, actually. I probably won't sell it, though... I think it has a few busted keys and other things wrong with it. Just a thought. Maybe I could get it repaired for cheap somewhere.

Hello everyone,

I just uploaded an update of the SQ8L VSTi; the programmer fixed some
aliasing problems which especially occured on certain AM settings. He
also did some minor cleanup, so that the plugin now takes even less CPU
cycles than before.

Really, with this one (while being an absolutely brilliant representation of both the sound and the interface of the original) it shows how far computer-optimized GUIs have gone.
I don't have anything against a decent pseudo-realism coming with a GUI, but in this case i can't see why a) the interface couldn't be a tad bigger and b) why there couldn't be more controls on one page, such as for example, all OSC parameters on one page, all envelopes on one page, all LFOs on one page, etc., you get the idea.
It might have been a proper interface for a hardware synth, but in software land it's really sub par, so an alternate GUI (a la Ohmforce or so) might be an idea.
