If you duplicate the example in the tute on the site that should get you started, or:

* Insert Janus
* Insert RollBuddy as an effect
* Copy the diagram into your sequencer using quarter notes for the notes and the gaps
* note/gap/note/gap/note/gap/note
* Remembering the MIDI #000 note or CC #16 (I think) to trigger the record cascade
* Put Roll Buddy on Preset 2 for quarter notes
* Press Play on your sequencer
* Stop or turn off the power to RollBuddy
* You should now have 4 .wav files matching the notes in the sequencer in the RollBuddy folder next to RollBuddy.dll

RollBuddy will get a visit when SSP II is done.

Thank you for the Buddy tips, Benedict. I feel like I understand it's role in the chain a little bit better now. Instead of messing with the recorder running in the background, just fire up a Buddy and get it down that way.

Not to mention it being a nice, simple sampler in it's own right.

You got RollBuddy now, just a simple sampler that can do his thing 4 times in a row (oh I wish).

PreRoll does ok but I think that there are still a lot of ppl who either don't know of it or pass it by because it desn't make a noise of it's own. Finally a VST that does less than One Ping

is there a way to set pre roll buddy for less than fifteen minutes, can it just be user definable?

PreRoll Recorder has the 3 time settings which create 2 files of just over half the set time so 15 mins = 2 x 7.5 mins.

I'm wondering why you might want even shorter times. Let me know what you want and why and I'll look at it.

Often ppl try using PRR in ways that are more suited to Roll Buddy which records "on demand" rather than PRR which is "always on" in the background.

After SSP II is out PreRoll Recorder and the Buddies will get some upgrades so your ideas and wants will go in the bowl

right now i'm using an app that does it from 5 seconds to 2 minutes and it's ideal when I want to snatch something off of fox news or a film or whatever after it passes I know I've got two minutes to catch it, or if I like and I know I'm basicly having a sampling session I can set it for less time and as soon as I hear what i want i can sample it nicely and still save loads of harddrive space because I set it for 5- 10 seconds. you know if you want to sample the president saying that he 'aproved this message' you don't want to use up 15 minutes doing it.

I understand what you are after but PRR is designed for a slightly different situation (altho it will cover yours just fine).

PRR is designed more to be sitting in the background semi-forgotten till you go "bugger, that was great but I didn't record it". "But wait, I have PreRoll Recorder running in the background and it will have saved that take."

With the size of modern drives 2 x 7.5 mins will not be an issue at all esp seeing as you would ony need to record in Mono.

Why not consider RollBuddy instead as he can record much shorter times.

If it a big enough issue for you then I may add a shorter time or 2 when I get to update time.
