Hm, I might've missed something, will have to look at the schematic when I'm at my home computer. Sorry that I can't give you a definite answer right now.asseca wrote:What is the purpose of the first 216 Vst-parameters of the EQ ??

Damn, you could have warned me about the EQ presets. The 2nd one damn near blew my ears off!
Oh, works fine so far in Live 5.x

Sorry!
Everyone, be warned, the 2nd preset is a screamy bastard!
And thanks for trying it out!

Ah, yes, they're for storing that editable text on the front panel of the EQ. And if I'm not mistaken, there's 260 of these parameters. I'll reduce it to 64 though, it's not like you can even have 64 visible characters on the panel right there.stefancrs wrote:Hm, I might've missed something, will have to look at the schematic when I'm at my home computer. Do people still want this feature? The ability to place some arbitrary "title" on each EQ so that you know which is which when using several instances of it?

That's a very nice and useful feature IMO.

Could someone who had denormal issues (CPU build-up when idling, IE, playing silence) or loading issues try this version out?
EQ020
No major update, just a few tests. And when feedback is set to zero, the feedback paths are disconnected so that they don't use CPU for their saturation stages, just a minor optimisation.
Cheers, and thanks in advance!

Stefan, this eq is CRAZY. And I have to say I LOVE it.
I had some problems saving a big Cubase project with your eq, it seemed to cause a bit of a crash, but I like it so much I'm applying it to tracks and rendering down the file! I'll try this new version and see if the bad behavior goes away.
The way that feedback interacts with the eq is NUTTY! I'm crazy about it. It's some of the best distortion I've ever heard from a plugin.
Keep up the great work.
Cheers.

Well, the crash doesn't happen anymore.
I am getting what might be denormals, that is, redlining the CPU frequently -- but that's after loading a fourth instance. There's some CPU variation when it's only three, but nothing that spikes, so perhaps it's not denormals after all. And though the distortion level is accurate when I reload the project, the distortion dial has reset to zero. No biggie, that last one, but you should know.
Cheers.

Great feedback and information, thank you! And I'm glad you like it as a distortion unit! After the remaining bugs has been fixed I'll work some on getting general CPU usage down, should be possible to get it to about half of what it is now.
Denormals should be as much of a hassle with just one instance being fed silence as well, at least if you're on a P4. AMD's and newer Intels suffer from denormals as well, but not nearly as much as the P4's do.
May I ask what kind of sounds and music you've been trying it out on?

I agree with Dux, its "a very nice and useful feature", however it might be more practical to place the "conventional Vst-parameters (plus a few reserves) first, and the "text"-parameters at the end. This would make it easier to find the automatable vst-parameters ...

Hey Stefan - I had a chance to run my guitar through your EQ-stortion plugin. It makes a rather amazing, hard-to-control superfuzz! I really like it, and I think you have a potential king of Wah-Wah/Radiohead pedals there.
Check it out
The downside: CPU is massive. When I tried to automate some filter sweeps to do this wah-effect, upon playback, my CPU went pretty much up to 100%, causing glitches on every single automation point. Sounded nasty. I recorded this in realtime with TapeIt; in realtime, the CPU is about 50&.
There's a really cool plug-in here, I'm not sure what this is anymore! I hope the CPU can be lightened somehow.

What a great recording, it sounds _really_ cool! Any extra effects apart from delay/reverb used here?
50%? Whoa, that's high. What do you get when not doing any automation? Automation CPU can be reduced, and so can processing CPU. Not sure how much the automation CPU can be lowered though, will have to investigate this when all issues have been resolved.
