Erans instruments in 2 formats

After discussing this with Erans, we have decided to publish all instruments of the Erans sampleset on kara-moon.
The instruments will be published one by one and this in 2 formats
- The Reason format which is the orginal Erans format
- Soundfont format converted by us with awavestudio
Remark that the soundfont could need some optimization because the reason set uses a lot of tricks for the combinator, which can not be converted to soundfont.
If somebody improves the soundfont, we ask to regive it to the community and we will replace the version on our site.
We have just published the first instrument here, scroll down to the Soundfont section.

Great! Looking forward to the rest.
Only had time to try out the Cello Löfberg so far.

Houston we have a problem and we need help !
Tests showed that awavestudio does import the reason banks with different layers BUT he doesn't assign the right limits to the different layers.
This means that I can't automaticaly convert those reason patches to soundfont.
Perhaps somebody else has the right tools to convert this to soundfont ? or sfz of course :)

Loading the combinator preset crashed my Awave, ESC doesn't understand Reason (at least not here) and Kontakt doesn't seem to understand the combinator preset either. (And looking at the Chickensys website, they don't convert combinator patches either). And because of the way the samples are structured, there's probably no easy drop-n-play solution either, just hard work to configure and program the patches in a sampler.kara wrote:Nobody ?

Hi Hans
Strange that it crashed your Awave, what version do you have ?
I can read the preset together with the wavs in awave and the mapping is ok as long as it is a rather simple preset. What awave doesn't reconize here is the ranges of the velocity layers. Ex. for the published banjo preset, I have 6 layers with the wav's in the correct layers but the velocity range of ALL the wav's is 1-127

I don't own reason and I use ExSC which doesn't support nnxt format yet... I actually tried to read the nnxt patches with ChickenSys free yesterday... mmm, let's just say it was a "bad user experience".
Kara, does the problem arise when you open the .sxt in awave or when you try to convert it to sf2? If it's the latter you could try other destination formats... if it's the former I'm with Xnah, no easy way to go about it I'm afraid
Edit: answered in the post above

It could read the .sxt, but it crashed (actually: froze), when importing the .cmb file. (Although it's supposed to be able to import that). And because of the way the wavs are constructed, you need the .cmb as well...

Sometimes it helps to read a manual
I've found a solution to convert some reason banks to soundfont.
The conversion works for let's call it simple patches where there not to much combinator work involved.
At the sample page you can find the Banjo patch converted to a 5 layers soundonft, let me know if there are problems with that one.
I would allso like to have an idea (please) how many people are interested in this soundfonts. Understand that this is not my day job, so i would only convert if there is enough interest.

The sf2 loads fine and seems to have the velo layers mapped correctly, thanks Kara.
I'd prefer sfz, but I would definitely be interested in any format other than sxt (which I cannot read) as the samples seem to be of very high quality
(btw thanks so much for sharing them Erans).

Yes it is true, the samples are of a very good quality.
Ok, now let's hope that some other people show some interest in this.
