I wonder if it'l have the same cpu drain as the 6.x line..

Yes, but then again that's almost all graphical (turn off the fancy GFX settings and change your threading priorities to get the old CPU usage back).

and then beta version after beta version after beta version!
sorry, had to say it. I love FlStudio but I hate the numerous beta versions that follow. it's hard to know when it's safe to update!

Really? Can you be more specific as to what settings should be turned off as you suggest?

If you don't want to deal with beta downloads, don't get betas, simple as that :P

Really hard eh? :hihi:

Dozens of pages in Looptalk explain it all perfectly...

yeah, i don't bother w/ the betas and it's not that hard since i do read what the beta versions will do... it's just that some of the updates seem to just throw everything upside down sometimes.

Certainly!

First, turn off ultrasmooth visual feedback.

Next, set your mixing thread priority to "high" and turn on "safe overloads". This will give thread priority to the audio thread but will leave CPU available in the event of a massive overload to keep the graphics from freezing.

If you experience problems still, try LOWERING the mixing thread priority to provide more CPU for your GUI updates (typically necessary if you have a poor GFX card and a good soundcard).

experiment with the thread priority based on which seems to be causing more underruns; music, or graphics.
