I'm loving this as well. It put a really nice edge to a guitar bass loop I'm playing with.

I'm just wondering, does it work in a similar way to a graphic eq?

I think Christortion is a really nice tool. It seems not really a distortion and not really an Eq but a very effective sound sculpting tool. On the down side I've experienced some pretty sever DC offset when making adjustments based solely on the sound. Is this just the nature of the beast or could that be corrected?

Athough my internet connection is still damn unstable, I managed to upload the latest version.
It doesn't really have a lowcut build in, but an additional DC control can adjust the amount of DC Bias: 100% equals the old behaviour, 0% is always DC free for no input.
I choosed this implementation, because the plugin is for distortion and not for filtering. Anyway, this method gives you a new degree in sound and you can still experiment with a DC-Remover if it is still needed.

Furthermore, while holding the [ALT], the sliders will behave linear instead of logarithmic.

This is great, I noticed the problem before but I did not know this was 'DC Offset'. I was thinking of just not using every second slider (2, 4, 6, 8 ) But now this has been changed and I think the plug is really finished.
I think you, the author, spended quite some time polishing the thing up till it shined, after you 'found' it on your harddrive. I think the effort has paid off! Thanks a lot...

by the way i know what dc offset is visually but what does it do on the sound? whats the damage with it?

If you have a complete perfect system, you shouldn't notice any DC at all. It's physically only a higher air pressure. But it starts with the speake. If you have a DC offset, the range in which they can move is limited and this way they do not operate linear any more.
But even more obvious is the DC inside a digital system. You usually map +/-1 (in case of VST) to the maximum and minimum sound pressure level. If you add a DC of let's say +0.5, you would get distortion if you are trying to use the full digital range. Your mapping would be between -0.5 and +1.5. The soundcard may truncate everything above 1.0 to 1.0. So your range is limited from -0.5 to +1.0. You loose dynamic range and introduce some clipping (applied by the soundcard or maybe the speakers). This may result in a nice effect, but it partly depend on the system you are using or the post processing. So if you use a limiter to cut everything below-1 and above +1 you'll get the same truncation. Controlling this you have another degree of controlling the sound.

I'm trying Christortion here in Live (again) and there is a lot of DC offset which is effectively removed by the DC-remover. However, the parameter is not saved with the project and is also not controllable by MIDI.
But a very simple subfilter (10HZ, -12 db/oct) does indeed remove the DC offset completely. :)

I really like to jam around with Christortion!
