persobally find no problem downloading and viewing television programs. its offered for free viewing in the first place. i record programs all the time using my DVR. how is this different?. especially seeing i have no other way of viewing in the US

Nope, the revenue generated by the UK TV Licence Fee is solely for the BBC. All other UK channels generate their revenue via advertising. However, get caught watching any channel on a TV without a licence and you will be prosecuted :)

oh! thanks, didnt know that... :oops:

people are prosecuted for having a tv and only watching dvds on it, because TV Licensing Officers dont understand that you can use a television without viewing broadcast signals... :roll:
