I'm thinking about putting togeter a sample library in a couple of different formats, what formats should I consider?
I was thinking of making an acidized wave cd and a refill version, but I know people use other formats like Intakt modules, logic exs24 and such. What do you think the biggest market is?

Kontakt and Soundfont probably have the largest markets, with exs24 and Halion and Giga coming after. For loops and such, it seems that acidized loops are most popular. But I don't us a ton of loops, just a few here and there.

a-la yPPse... wavs with mappings for whatever samplers are most popular. And maybe a soundfont as well. I don't have any fancy samplers that have their own formats, and neither do many other freeware lovers at KVR, I imagine. So things like those NI formats are out. I'd also imagine soundfont being more popular than .gig. I think it depends on what market you're going after.... and what happened to your plugins?

Sounds like you're thinking more about a loop library than a sample library, right? In which case ACID, REX and Apple loops come to mind...o'malley wrote:I'm thinking about putting togeter a sample library in a couple of different formats, what formats should I consider?

It would be both loops and samples actually. Individual drum hits and such, as well as loops.Xnah wrote: Sounds like you're thinking more about a loop library than a sample library, right? In which case ACID, REX and Apple loops come to mind...

I got angry, a long time ago, and deleted my website, and I have had no desire to put it back up again.Debutante wrote:... and what happened to your plugins?

Go with wavs all the way, acid for the loops & loop points for the one-shot that required it.

AKAI S1/3/5/6K gets my vote. Most all samplers - both hardware AND software - can read/import akai. Come to think of it - name one sampler that doesnt read akai/import akai.

Is there any app allowing you to create AKAI samples without an AKAI?
I'd do what SampleScience suggested.

Sorry, but that only allows for conversion. So you'd need something else to map things up. And then, during conversion, depending on the details of your mappings, a lot of things might be lost.Dominus wrote:Translator.Sascha Franck wrote:Is there any app allowing you to create AKAI samples without an AKAI?

Have you looked at SFZ ? Free player and an open sample format. It is a very powerful format with lots of features.

But not for loops.jupiter8 wrote:Have you looked at SFZ ? Free player and an open sample format. It is a very powerful format with lots of features.

For loops I would take Wav format, single shots could allso be WAV and perhaps packed in SF or Gig format. SFZ is allso a posibility.
