I just wanted to let ya'll know that I have uploaded the recently released demo DVD from EastWest and Sounds Online to Sample Torrents. This should help with the bandwidth issues that there have been. This is a demo of several of their sample libraries based on the Kompakt engine.
Get it now at:
http://www.sampletorrents.com
The download WILL be a bit slow at first, but will pick up as I get more of the file to more people. Also, I have another seed I'm hoping to get in there in the next day or so. Also, it's the Windows version. I will upload the Mac version once I get a couple seeds for the Windows one.
So if you don't have it yet, go get it!

I haven't tried, but most other Kompakt libraries will. I will have to try later tonight when I get home from the company Christmas party. But I would think that they would work like the rest.

It's wierd. I'm trying to load some stuff from it into Kontakt, and it's telling me that it's not registered, and that I have to start the application it came with at least once. But I've already done that, both with the standalone and the plugin. So who knows. Maybe it's just being wierd, but I would think you could load it without changing anything.
About the content, I think the content is very nice, although there are not a ton of instruments. What IS there is well done, and a worth addition to your library if you don't already have similar instruments. I really do suggest picking it up. It is free anyways!

it is definately legal to do so. it's just a bug of k2 which stops you to load into kontakt. read this:
http://www.native-instruments.com/forum ... =3rd+party
and this:
http://www.nativeinstruments.de/forum_u ... 847&page=3
actually, the same info was given regarding intakt content directly by NI support to me. so I guess it's legal.

While I agree that at first it seems illegal, it does help that NI themselves suggested it. So I wouldn't be too worried.
As for myself, I'll probably just run it inside the Kompakt player. But it's nice to know there is a workaround just in case.

From my reading of the problem you need to open a Kompakt based instrument in a registered copy of it's own player at least once for it to be able to be loaded into Kontakt 2. However the bug seems to cause some people to get messages saying the instrument they are loading is not registered even when it is. However from what I can see of this fix it would make it possible to load both legit registered instruments and unregistered ones - is that not correct? I'm surprised NI legitimised that (though tbh they have had plenty of time to fix the problem and should have done so by now).AKJ wrote:well, Konatkt is meant to be able to read Kompakt/Intakt player libraries. It is a bug of V2 that it fails sometimes and this is the official method to work around.
