Yeah, so this is a rant.
nowadays, all you see are big companies releasing huge libraries for 400-500. Where are the good ole akai/EMU CDs that have nice content in them? Not just loops, i want multisamples of violin, cello, some percussion, etc. Where are they? How big are they? I cant load a friggin 120 mb patch in my sampler.
IMO, there should be a sticky of where to get sample CDs for HARDWARE SAMPLERS like the akai S5/6K, Roland S990, Emu E4Xt, Kurzweil K2600RS, etc. Not wav files, but MAPPED files for that specific sampler.

Hit up soundsonline.com and sweetwater.com, they still stock a pretty good selection of akai/emu sample CDs.

I've already looked at soundonline's catalog. Nothing impressive there. Can we keep this a sticky? Sample CDs for hardware samplers ONLY - top notch, and where to get them.

Lets keep this a sticky, so others can contribute this and see this thread as well.

it is probably because emu, akai etc. is now very much outdated. formats like kontakt allow much more possibilities for expression and articulations due to extensive programming. I for myself would not want to compromise on that anymore at all.
If you want to use outboard gear to not have the full load on your computer, you may try a receptor.

I do not disagree with that, but hardware samplers are just samplers. Its more fun to work with them.MelloProg wrote:it is probably because emu, akai etc. is now very much outdated. formats like kontakt allow much more possibilities for expression and articulations due to extensive programming.
