I was working on something, but I don't know if it's up to par. I'm not so familiar with average quality of entries with these remix contests..

Do you care? Part of the fun is entering (which I did already). But one thing I really don't like with contests is moving deadlines though, although it's understandable. I also think 1 month should be long enough for any contestcore wrote:I was working on something, but I don't know if it's up to par. To answer your question: Of course I haven't heard any of the other entries for this contest, but you could try listening to contest entries at acidplanet.com. They have several remix contests going on at any time, with several 100's of entries for each. Of these, a couple (30-50) will have reasonable quality or be actually very good. More than half of them don't have the pitches or the timing right (esp. when there are vocal parts included as well). The good thing about it is of course that a lot of 13-15 year-olds get a chance to work with music and experiment, even though they sometimes don't really know what they're doing.

You're right Xnah, I was having fun with the samples so I guess I should just finish it and submit it!

we need MORE ENTRIES!
the contest has been promoted as well as we can. THOUSANDS of new website hits have happened since we started the contest back in september. meaning a LOT of people grabbed our free samplepack and did not enter the contest.Xnah wrote: Did you also promote the contest at other (remix-) sites?
there are a HBUGE SLEW of GREAT prizes up for grabs here, folks - nobody wants to win free stuff anmymore?
still hoping for some new entries as i don't want to CLOSE the website down and forget the whole thing....

a quick note of advice to core and anybody elese who might be deciding whether or not to submit a mix:core wrote:I was working on something, but I don't know if it's up to par. I'm not so familiar with average quality of entries with these remix contests..
you CAN'T win any prizes if you don't SUBMIT your entry!
forget about "PAR" or what other people have done/can do - just get your entry to where YOU like it, and submit it!
you never know...

Priorities... priorities... Did you see the prizes for this one? If that's not enough, then what do you need to be persuaded?bduffy wrote:I promise I'll get on this soon. I'm actually swamped in remix contests now!

I am persuaded! But there's also Focusrite LiquidMix...Cubase 4...lots o' loot! ACtually, the only real interference is this damned day job that saps my musical strength.
