Sampletank 2.x Drum Output Assignments by Zone?

Hi,
Can someone can please enlighten me? - There appears to be no way to assign separate outputs to drums within a program by zones or any other method. If this really is the case it's a pity because this is one of the most fundamental uses for zoning sampled drums. One for IK to fix really. However, as a workaround it is possible to reduce the level of a zone to -60dB, this is effectively "off" in most situations. This means that it is possible to simply load in as many instances of the drums program as one needs separate outputs. This is messy because it wastes polyphony, but is does mean that there is no need to separate out the individual MIDI tracks by instrument in the host, and it would permit controllable live use on a single MIDI channel.
Has anyone else found a better solution to this ST2.x limitation?
Thanks,
Roger

Each part has it's own stereo output. I think what you're looking for is the eSoundz Studio Drums Capsule. It has an installation option to generate different ST2 programs for each drum kit section. So, each full kit has five ST2 programs - kick, snare, hats, toms, cymbals. You then load each of these programs onto it's own part and set them all to the same MIDI channel.
The Studio Drums Capsule is the cream for acoustic drum kits in SampleTank2. I think you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for that Kim,,, you know I've had the capsules for quite a while, and I never realized we could do that. I've just used them as great stereo kits.

Thanks Kim. That's nice to know, but it wouldn't have helped me in the situation I was in - I was about to mix a track and I went to ST2 expecting to be able to spread the drum outputs (like with any other pro module) only to find that it's not possible. Anyway, the kludge I found with the levels on the zones worked around the problem. However, this does nothing to encourage the future use of ST2 for drums, I've learned a lesson and I'll stick with the sampler from now on. I would suggest that your solution with the Studio Drums Capsules prompts the question to IK of "why haven't you done this for every kit you provide?" This would provide the ability to try the kit in its simplest format, and then if it works well one could go through the motions of loading the section kits to be able to mix properly. That would be such a nice low effort content release to keep us loyal customers sweet! I don't normally have a lot of use for acoustic drum samples, but this was for a charity release and my knowledge of my normal sampled drum libraries is not exactly comprehensive in this area. The ST2.1 Dry kit fitted the bill straight out of the box, and the ability to tailor the envelopes on the toms made it sound right very quickly. It all started to go horribly wrong when I wanted to mix - everything I wanted to do is impossible with a stereo mixed full kit; Cymbals + hats sizzle & ambience, proper modelled vintage eq and huge reverb on the chorus snare, rim eq & ambience, and what on earth is one expected to do without a separate bass drum output in the context of sorting the bottom end with the base instrument?Kim (esoundz) wrote:Each part has it's own stereo output.
