Abstrakt Breaks???

Has anyone purchased 'Abstrakt Breaks' from Soniccouture? I don't like to use loops very often, but the demos for this sound great. The production sounds cold, stark, and very pristine...which I like. The other cool thing is that all of the grooves are supposed to be broken down into their individual elements, which would allow for using them creatively, such as placing the glitches exactly where you want them, as opposed to using a random Glitch VST. I was wondering if anyone else here had purchased them, and what they thought of the loops once they used them. I am particularly interested in the downtempo loops.......

yeah i'm going to buy it now especially since it's on sale. but the only qualm i have is that although the demos are great, all the loops in the demos are fairly abrasive sounding which limits their use. i'll still buy it though - they make great stuff. you should also look at abstrakt konktrete - some very unique electro-percussion sounds in there.

I do like the sounds of some of their other products....unfortunately, I do not own Kontakt 2.

Hi there Vespers,
Konkrete is available in EXS24, REfill Battery and Halion format, if you are looking for glitchy drumkits..

I've listened to the demos on all of your products, and the ones I like are Abstrakt Breaks (which I can use) and Abstrakt Vol.1 and Abstrakt Bass (which are in Kontakt 2 format). I thought of buying and trying something like Extreme Sample Converter to convert K2 formats, but I'm unsure of how well the conversion would actually sound. I'm not really a fan of Native Instruments products....they tend to sound thin, be shoddy and buggy, and are way over-priced IMO.soniccouture wrote:Hi there Vespers,

Hi,
you wouldn't be able to convert Abstrakt Vol.1 or Abstrakt Bass very well, as they both use scripting and Kontakt-specific features quite heavily.

yeah nn-xt sounds thin too but you can use scream alongside it for abstrakt konktrete. i'd personally like to see sampletank support for the abstrakt konktrete and breaks series myself.vespers75 wrote: I'm not really a fan of Native Instruments products....they tend to sound thin, be shoddy and buggy, and are way over-priced IMO.

Very happy Abstrakt Breaks customer here!
Stunning stuff and with the looped elements of the full loop - highly usable!
The ONLY thing is there isnt enough of the loops - I realise they are sampled at high quality but I'd have foregone this for more loops
Not a criticism - I love the set - but I cant wait for vol 2!!!

Funny you said that, as Sampletank is my sampler of choice as well....I've used it as my 'go to' sampler for many years now, and I love the damn thing. I agree totally...I'd like to see them provide Sampletank formats as well. Aside from esoundz, no one seems to want to make sets or sounds for it.Mr. Tunes wrote:yeah nn-xt sounds thin too but you can use scream alongside it for abstrakt konktrete. i'd personally like to see sampletank support for the abstrakt konktrete and breaks series myself.vespers75 wrote: I'm not really a fan of Native Instruments products....they tend to sound thin, be shoddy and buggy, and are way over-priced IMO.

hmm interesting. i bought it this week and here's how i'd respond to your critique(even though said it wasnt one
when i first looked through the 2 folders i actually thought to myself that there are a lot of loops here. i dont think that the loop count is too low considering that these loops actually require a lot of work to program compared to your straight ahead hiphop and techno loops that most other companies typically work on.
the seperation of hi-hats, kicksnare and glitch percussion loops are great cause you can get almost infinite combinations out of them. the rex support is icing on the cake cause it almost adds a mini version of abstrakt konktrete inside this package if you load it into something like Dr. Rex.
Apple Loops, Rex and Wave you can't go wrong here. i'd like to write a substantial review sometime this week, but this is my opinion at the moment. i'm pretty satisfied with these at the moment just like you are mckenic
fresh sounds to start off the new year...

though I've not put'em to a lot of use yet- I did get willingly swept into the buying mood in the pre-Christmas sale
and though once i use'em they'll bear little resemblance to the original- Breaks is excellent grist for the mill
very happy with soniccouture stuff!

why, yes! they do, Tuney!...I'll have to get busy with something using the combo, but for now- here a shameless bump for a ditty using some Abstrakt Breaks loopsMr. Tunes wrote:ay blortblort i knew i'd see you here

...In real life, Abstrakt Breaks sounds WAY better than in this particular example.
just go to the soniccouture page and listen to ANY of their demos
