Hi,
I don't normally use samples (I usually record all the audio myself or use VSTi's or hardware synths.
Thought I'd check some out...
I downloaded some free samples and they are in EXS format...
What (preferably free) sample players can I use to play these files?
thanks,
Rich

EXS is the format for Logic.
I don't know of anything outside of Logic that will play them.
There may be a program that could convert them, but I'm not sure.

I think EXSC, Chickensys' Translator and CDxtract convert them. Both Kontakt and HALion should read them more or less fine as well (and probably VSampler, too).
I don't think there's any free solution, though.
But in case the patches aren't aiming at anything overly complicated, you could probably just map the wavefiles in your sampler of choice.
In case you still got the URL, post it and I may have a look at them. I could then supply a screenshot of the mappings as well.

Yeah, those have been around for a looong time. FWIW, the FL DirectWave sampler that's on sale for $40, today-only, apparently loads EXS files....

Sorry for the late reply. I will look at them later on and tell you whether they'll be easily remappable by yourself.
