Why should I get DirectWave?

Image-Line's deal for (just) today makes it very tempting for me to get DirectWave. But I have to ask why?
I use FL Studio and usually just use its sampler slots to load samples. I also have Highlife, which I haven't used much really.

If you are using a somewhat simular setup and got DirectWave, I'd like to know why you got it and how is it working for you?

Thanks!

Just to bump you along... any opinions on how well it imports recycle stuff?

because is a very good piece of software...it can import many different formats (you can find so many good soundfonts for free).... it have a special feature to sample a vst instruments loading it inside Directwave...is very easy to use...there are so many good reasons.....and only for today is only 39dollars.....don't wait..........are you still there...go and get it.

I'd like to know as well.
How good is it at loading Kontakt and Gigasampler samples? I presume it doesn't load Kontakt 2 but only 1.5?

I was tempted by directwave a while back, but ended up not getting it when i discovered it can't stream directly from disk (if i'm wrong about that, someone correct me please)
On the other hand, it looked good in almost all other respects, and for $40 its probably difficult to go wrong (unless you need that direct from disk playback)

Does anything but Giga stream from disk?

I got Directwave today because I have problem with getting these kinds of things. But for forty bucks, I'll just bring my lunch for a week and will have absorbed the cost.

I had seriously considered Directwave a few months ago. I had been looking for a sampler that was good for my approach to sampling, had it narrowed down to Directwave and shortcircuit. I got SC because I liked its modulation options better. But, Directwave's sample record/edit functions were mighty tempting. At $40, it seemed like a no-brainer, even with Highlife being free now, since it has obvious improvements over it. Arguru has mentioned some excellent updates planned for Directwave (can't remember what now), hopefully they will pan out.

But again, I have a problem with a samplers these days, just can't seem to get enough of them.

updates will be free?
are samples included?

tempting.

I have a question, too :
- does it have such a nice midi learn for root keys/upperkey/lowerkey than Short Circuit or EnergyXT's sampler ?
- I already have Ext, do i have a need for DirectWave ?
- Can it also (like EnergyXT's sampler & Loopazoid) save the samples sound within the kit, to avoid losing sounds if you change the sample's names or location ?
- and... last question : is it really good for slicing ?

Actually, I think most of them do. Kontakt, HALion, EXS24, MachFive, Emulator-X, VSampler and Independence are the ones that come to mind but there might be more. It's pretty much a prerequisite if they are to be compatible with the multi-gig commercial sample libraries.

I bought it today for two reasons. One-it is acts like a real sampler, not just a sample player. Two-I can sample very high CPU VSTs that I love, like Jack Dark's Hand of Darkness, and not worry about CPU strain. For forty bucks it's a steal.

Damn good price I'd say. I'm tempted now that you brought it up.

Are you sure that what they say is disk-streaming is the same thing as what Giga/Tascam call disk-streaming, which is "the" disk-streaming? I vaguely remember some kind of patent issue, that Giga/Tascam owned the patent on the technique and prohibited its development elsewhere, or was it just the trademark on the term?

Emulator X, Wusikstation v3...might be others, but I know these two do for certain.
