Just for the record, I have better performance (I can go to lower latency in Sonar before it clicks, cracks and pops!) with VSampler 3.5 than 3.52.
Hi Patrice. Yes and no. I never solved the Vsampler problems, but I got the soundfont version of the upright bass and it is working perfectly. I'll post a link to the song I am using the bass on when it is finished.

I think I am done with Vsampler. It has a lot of potential, but it seems to be more trouble than it is worth.

I have the upright bass and it sounds fantastic. I have the Vsampler version and I'm having a weird problem with random clicks. [...] I don't have this problem with any other instruments/samples in Vsampler or with any of my other samples (BFD, EWQL Gold and Choir, Stylus RMX, GPO, etc). I'm using Sonar 5 Producer.
Hi,

I'm using Sonar 6 Producer and VSampler 3.5.2, and I'm also having this problem. It occurs when notes are triggered by midi data during playback in Sonar, not when I trigger notes from my keyboard. The clicks are occurring because notes are not ending "gracefully"--the waveforms are getting suddenly chopped off mid-cycle when notes end. (Is it possible that release envelopes are not being triggered by note-off events? Are there any types of midi events or glitches that I should be looking for?) I've changed the audio quality settings and looked for settings related to release envelopes in VSampler, and I've tried changing the latency setting in Sonar. I've had no success.

I disagree that this issue is due entirely to VSampler and/or machine-specific setup issues, because with me also, this problem happens only with the Manytone bass samples, not with any of my many other VS3 sample collections. I'm sure that setup and VSampler issues come into play, but only as they relate specifically to the Manytone bass library. To me, this indicates that the possibility that there are problems with the way the VS3 library was constructed can't be ruled out.

The samples themselves are very nice, and this makes me want to find a solution to this problem. Paul, any progress with Maz?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave

I have bumped the thread at the VSampler forum with a message to Maz.

I have also emailed him again. As most users are running the sets fine in VSampler, in fact to date, there is only 2 of you with these click troubles and 1 of you confirms it happens with some other banks besides Manytone banks, yet we have quite a few VSampler users running them fine. Without some input from Maz, it is pretty tough for me to answer support issues that need his help.

Are the other Banks that you say work fine for you 24 bit samples, and are they as large a set as our basses are? I notice on the VSampler forum that this happens with Scarbee on VSampler too. They are 24 bit and larger sets too are they not?

Like I said, I can't do nothing without Maz as we cannot repeat this click and pop here, nor on a few other systems. You guys need to see if Maz can support you here a bit. Perhaps ping VSampler support again with this.
I have done all I can to try to get this resolved but I am lost without him to help support his product.

So I have contacted him again and we will see what happens this time.

Hi,

I did the VSampler version of the Manytone bases and so far was unable to reproduce the bug. But yesterday it happened also here and I was able to nail it down:

In my case (Sonar 3.11, Terratec 6Fire, WDM-Driver) it could easily solve the problem by REDUCING the latency to minimum. This may sound strange, but here it worked like this. If you cannot reduce latency to a minimum where you don't experience these clicks (occurring at overlapping notes), you can do the following:
solutuion a) avoid overlapping notes (use quantization)
solution b) in the respective patch disable the internal effects, and in the general VSampler performance settings disable SSE support (for some strange reason without SSE support internal effects cannot be midi controlled so you will hear all fx on the sound even if the respective controllers are put to zero)

I hope this helps also other users.

cheers, akj
