Anyone know where I could pick up samples (preferable free or cheap) of scary sound effects?

Creaking doors, whispering winds, etc.

Check out your local public library -- I've found a number of sound effect CDs at mine.

My kids love the fact that I can produce fart and burp sounds in five octaves.... on my computer.

btw, you can still buy scar stuff. it's now called fake skin, but it still comes in a little tub. recently i made several ppl gasp at the gash on my hand. "you need to get that treated right away"
