ok im using the Mackie onyx 400F, and it comes along with its own digital mixing software that is started each time i open Tracktion 2. do you guys recommend having a full-out physical mixer next to me that i can touch? or just use the software mixer.

That depends on how you like to work.

I tried both (Tascam FW-1082), but I prefer working with the mouse.

I mix with a mouse, but me thinks the good (semi-) pro producers prefer sliders. I'm just not there yet.

i have a mix of both,

the emu1820 has 20 outs & 18 ins controlled by a software mixer, i will never go back

I am assuming you mean AFTER all things are normalized/recorded into the DAW etc...? Like gain isn't an issue. Just final mixing and controlling of things? Or are you recording with mics/ hardware??

Physical Mixer? or...computer mixer?
