I think there's some arabian wind instruments in there. I also very much like this sound but I haven't got any decent samples. Maybe your net-neighbour Safwan Matni could tell. His/her sample modules have the same kind of detuning I heard in the sample. I think it's not so much the strings as it is the blown instrument, that sounds a little like an Indian one. Arabs do have elaborate string sections especially in the lower end, but I think in that sample I heard a wind instrument that in fact I was looking for only 2 or 3 days ago.

It's a mixture of sounds; in the hiher octave I can definately hear what I can only guess to be some kind of ney, of which there are many varieties. I don't think the bowed string is violin. Arabs have plenty of bowed instruments, and I'd like a few good samples myself. If you find out please drop a line :)

Wow, thank's. :)
I translate your post and I read. It seems to me very interesting.

It's some type of violin. It's not a flute. I guarantee it! :)
It could be some more simple type of violin instrument like the "Greek Lira" but the Arabian counterpart though.
I don't know but it's definitely a bowed string instrument.

Best,

Lars

East West RA is the best i've heard. I bought it in the group buy this year but now the price seems to be pegged at that low point anyways(around $500?).

I think there is some kind of wind instrument playing the highest octave. There is definately a bowed string playing 1 and 2 octaves below that...IMO

There's quite a few possibilities on this page, at least you might have better luck finding samples with a few names. I'm looking as well. :)

Hello.

I don't know exactly the instruments' names, but I have heard such "Eastern" sounds in the Swarplug Collection.

Check more information about it here:

Hope this helps.
