thats the spirit ;)
thank you !
this pales in comparison to the generousity we've seen from YOU, Sir!

that's the whole idea :hihi:

believe it or not, no- I was rather surprised at the results. I simply held the r-09 in my hand about 8 inches above the console of the Magnus and played the keys. the whole endeavor from sampling > editing > completed instrument couldn't have taken more than 3 hours.

would if I could, thoshu. The miles and scheduling are what separate us these days. Minnie's not doing as well as she once was, but even at 94 and after some close calls healthwise, she's doing as well as can be expected. I know she'll be thrilled to know that many others are having a chance to enjoy the instrument that brought her a lot of joy

dude- it's one of my greatest weakness's  I've been known to make instruments from snoring or angry squirrels. The sillier the source, the more fun it is to turn it into something 180degrees different...I dig the ocassional "unusual instrument" as well!

there was a time I would turn my nose up at such an instrument as the Magnus. Boy, was I stupid. took me quite a number of years to realize: while the instrument does play a role, what comes out of that instrument is ultimately the focus 8)
have fun with this, pd!

thanks blortblort. :) i too have a magnus that i sampled,every3 notes only 44.1k,16bit,i was gonna put it in a synthedit sf player and give it a gui,but i ain't got it done yet.maybe i should just up it.it's got the chords, too but what i did was de-noise it,to take off the fan-noise,then resampled the fan seperately and looped it on one key so you can add it or not.it will have lost some frequencies cos of that but i was worried that the fan noise on every note would build up when playing more than one note at a time.get me?
anyway,i'll listen to yours and think about it.
oh yeah,i sampled the on/off switch too.nudge me and i'll eventually get it done.

This looks great! Sadly I'm a KVRAF, but hopefully I can still d/l it :)

An aunt of mine had a cheap plastic binatone version of one that I played about 20 years ago..

@spacedad- I'd love to get hold of the version you're describing...get'er done!...and I'm not kidding- as I posted previously, the prize's "mumee is cuming bac" is my new fav song...and I just listened to "sprklee belz". I'm all about "the prize"
awesome 8)
@duncanparsons - you *should* still be able to d/l...let me know if you can't we'll try to make arrangements.

cool you like the prize!just told him and he was v happy. :)
just tried out your magnus,it's much nicer than mine, whether it's cos it's 24bit or a better mic or just a less crappy model.mine sounds harsh and more uneven.i should have used 2 mics and took my time over it,it was a bit rushed,i think i had my boy(then aged 4)helping me.but it'll do me,once i get time to figure it out in se,i've a few toys to capture.if i don't do it soon,i'll put up the sf2.
