I saw it in the shops...

I got an email fomr CM regarding license to use it.. now here's a thing. I was sent it just days before the publication went on sale in the shops, and it would almost certainly have been sent to subscribers.

I did what was necessary to approve it being there; but what got me was the laxadazikal approach to permission. Granted I had sent a mail saying 'well, it's here', but what if between sending that and receiving the permissions mailing I had decided against it being put out that way for whatever reason?

Knowing how publishing has to work several weeks in advance for printers, disc mastering, etc, I thought it shameful that I was contacted so late. Permission should be accepted BEFORE mastering has taken place, not when everything is bundled and ready to go...

At least keys took my mailing them to be the permission, even if they ignored what I'd written about which version to use.. I gave them a link to a zip file, whilst they have published a rar.. such is life

Still, it's publicity, isn't it...

I agree somewhat with your last point. But look at it this way : I guess journalists too get their share of stress when deadlines approach. Don't think these specialist mags have a huge staff, yet they provide amazing content every month, which can't be easy. So, even if communication wasn't perfect, I'm still honoured to be on their cover disk in the end.

it would have been nice to get my synth on the coverdisk. However, i did not even get one single email from cm or keys. Even though i sent them the updated version along with the original permission email.
