Still exploring SP SE.

Can someone tell me what the .als and wav.asd files in the MultiTrack Loops & Demo Sessions folder are?

TIA

Post

als is for live 5 and I think wav.asd is for acid...
Play what you feel and feel what you play.

Post

beergeek, many thanks,

I see that many of the files names end in .wav.asd
I guess they were .wav files then saved in .asd format (out of ACID?)

Post

.asd and .asl files are for Live. The asd files are like "warp markers" that Live reads. asl files I am not sure off hand but the LIVE manual should explain it better. Also, we should have explained it better in our docs so we'll do that in the update.

Post

my bad...didn't know asd was also live....als are live sets...
Play what you feel and feel what you play.

The midi files are there with the slices. They are extracted from the rex files so they can play those slices in various samplers if you have one. Kontakt, EXS, HALion or you can load the chromatically starting on C1 into any other sampler.

Ok ,found them
Thanx for the reply Squids...
BTW,can u tell us when Infinite Drums will be released?
Also...1)will they be compatible with Battery 1?
and 2)Will u include any midi files with various rhythms and fills?
Thnx... :)

Infinite Drums, some time this Summer. Not sure when but hopefully soon. They're pretty close.

No compatibility with Battery 1. Kontakt 2 though. Maybe Battery 2. Might include midi files or at least by that time there will be many IMap midi files available with rhythms and fills.

Thnx for the reply Squids....
But what do u mean MAYBE Battery 2...
Surely a drum library compatibility with Battery is a must? :?
Anyway,looking forward to it... :P

Does anyone have any idea when the Studio ProFiles complete will be released? Still only the special edition out!

We're what we have coming:

Quarter 1 2007:

Artist Stereo Master Editions -

Steve Gadd
Bill Bruford
Bun E. Carlos
Ed Greene
Danny Gottlieb

(Jerry and John's soon to follow)

Style-based Multitracks -

Chicago Blues Drum Sessions
Big Band Drum Sessions
Rhythm & Soul Drum Sessions (this has all the Motown and Vintage Soul stuff in one)
British Rock Drum Sessions (this has the Zep and Beatle-esque drums from Vintage Rock but in multitrack)
Classic Rock Drum Sessions (not yet released in stereo at all)

Then in Q2 we have:

Jerry Marotta Drum Sessions (stereo and multitrack)
Ed Greene Drum Sessions (multitrack)
John Blackwell Drum Sessions (stereo and multitrack)
Nick D'Virgilio Drum Sessions (stereo and multitrack)

Hopefully we'll have Danny Gottlieb's title finished during this time as well but there are a few things we may want to add to his title... it's pretty huge though and there's something we did in it that has never been done before.

That's what to expect of Studio ProFiles for the first half of the year. If all goes well then we'll have more fun things to get in the second half of the year. We even have a few extra surprises on top of that.

Will these have BFD sets, Dave?

Not initially because this part we haven't been concentrating on. The drum kits from the Studio ProFile sessions will first be in Kontakt 2 format. They are usually about a gigabyte in size. They sound fantastic! I would love to have them in BFD as well and this is something we've planned on. It's something we'll explore next. The bulk of the time spent however was getting all of the multitrack loops sliced and put into the ONLY Multitrack Rex, Apple Loops and Acidized Wave format library offering ever (and the slices even match between the three formats in case you changed tempos and want to work with the three different formats or collaborate with someone who uses a different host). This took a tremendous amount of work to be able to accomplish and these titles are the first to ever offer this so we're excited about it. That means you can load up the multitrack rexes into something like Stylus RMX or Kontakt 2 and play the slices yet still be able to mix the directs, overheads, rooms etc. PLUS you have the kit samples. It's kind of the ultimate combination for original feel of the player and flexibility for you to do things how you want (you can even REPLAY the slices of the loop how you want but have the articulations of the playing to reanimate which gets you more realism).

These are REALLY incredible guys! It's almost like have the authentic multitracks in your hands.

Oh, if you want just the kits from the sessions and not the loops I believe we'll have all of the Studio ProFile style kits on the upcoming "Infinite Drums: Session" library but that's in Kontakt 2 format and maybe some other samplers to come like HALion, EXS and Giga.
