Sounds like Who's on first. Haha. Hey, listen to this. I check my email today and there was an email from Pete Townshend and Jon Anderson in my in box at the same time and just a few other emails (including one from Dave Matthews' engineer too actually). It was really surreal. Pete actually emailed to tell me he was loving the R.A.W. loops that I hooked him up with through Brian Kehew (his keyboard tech on The Who tour) and he said he was already a big IK fan! I had heard he bought Miroslav Philharmonik because he saw it in a studio and said "What's that?" and immediately went to the store to get it. But, him telling this to me was too much. He's a fan! lol I live in a bizarre world sometimes.

The Jon Anderson email was even cooler because we're talking about collaborating on some stuff but I can talk about that more when/if something happens there. Just having fun and using The Force to please the inner childhood squid. Thought I'd share it here for the throwbacks to appreciate. Genesis, The Who, Yes... now if I can wiggle my way into the world of Pink Floyd then my custom rock & roll fantasy camp experience would be complete.

Cool stuff huh? Relatively speaking of course.

Yes and no. ;) Just kidding. But, see how I tied it into the thread title?

Yes, it's good. Nothing compares to "Who's Next" and "Quadraphenia" for me though but...

I told Pete Townshend that in my reply that "Who's Next" was one of my favorite albums. "The Song Is Over", "Bargain" (cool synth solo).

Thanks. I know it's not really the same. It's not like it was when I was growing up listening to them. I don't have illusions of that (like that I am somehow going to be working on Fragile 2 or the next Tommy or Lamb Lies Down) But, it is still a dream to some extent. Never my intention though when gettign into this side of the business (apart from thinking years ago when I first started Sonic Reality that somehow I should get the samples to Tony Banks because I bet he'd love them... that was in 1997. Finally 10 years later it turns out I was right). I guess that's how/why it happens though. I am just doing my thing... sounds. Then all of a sudden I hear about this or that and I think "Oh man, I always wanted to meet him or work with them" etc. If you look at it from a "perk of the job" point of view, it IS a nice bonus for a music lover like me.

Not one life but several lives it sounds like. First life second life. Compared to the rest of us!

Way cool Dave! I remember the joy I had when Ellen McIllwaine answered the message I left on her website. You certainly deserve the recognition. I am sure it will continue.

Cheers,

"Peasants"

... and with these 15 ... ummmm 10 Commandements! (if you know the movie)

Umm, I hope it isn't viewed that way btw. I share but don't gloat or condescend. We're all just human anyway. Dane Cook put it well when he described Halley Berry... never mind. ;) But I hope no one thinks I think I am better than anyone else (just better than Beergeek by a tad... even though his brother is a legendary keyboardist haha... ok fine, he wins)

But, I know these things aren't everyday occurances for most people either so feel free to live vicariously if you like this sort of thing. I definitely felt like a fan representative when I was listening to the Genesis 5.1 mixes in their studio off the SSL board. I thought "Is this not every Genesis fan's dream right here?".

Pete's other tech invited me to the Eel Pie studio though. I should just move to England! I've been emailing back and forth with Bill Bruford as well because of his library we're releasing. It's fun, come on! I told him I really liked "One of a Kind". He had to be impressed that's rare! haha What do you think of this: Anderson, Bruford, Squidzman, Howe? :D

Picture Squids leaning back in his chair with one of those dream bubbles above his head "Crosby, Squids and Nash", "Squids, Lake & Palmer", "Squids & Croft", "Peter, Squids and Mary", "Led Squids", "Squids Floyd", "Squidsy Dan", "The Squids Lies Down on Broadway"... you know superimposing myself like Forrest Gump into these bizarre classic rock contexts.

Squids -
You can do the big-toe-in-the-sand-aww-shucks routine all you want, but it is still very cool. Way to go.

BTW, "History of the World, Part I" I believe. And if I were you, I would have quoted another more relevant line from that movie:

IT'S GOOD TO BE THE KING!
