Now why couldn't they have said this 10 months ago?
Just as many predicted, no Ethnotronics. Here's another prediction: come January there will be another set of excuses from BiTR, and so on, and so on, and so on...
Yes Improv,
I'm not so far away from sharing your opinion.....

Maybe Ethnotronics is not just vapourware, but it does seem that people who want it must get ready for a long, long wait I guess....
-----
Without demanding a rigid release date (I already heard your "we made one mistake with announcements, we won't do two"), I think that you people at BITR should at least give some clues, an estimate schedule to your would-be customers (like Ethnotronic should be available during 2007 Q1, Q2 Q3, Q4, etc... up to Q4 of 2009....) so that people who would really like to learn what they can do with ethnic sounds can make an educated choice : waiting for Ethnotronics, or go elsewhere where the thing is already available.
It would be just fair !

How about 'sitting on the shelf-ware'?

As I already reported Klaus isn't available since a while for Ethnotronics, so surely this is one reason for the delay because Klaus is an extremely quick and reliable sample producer and editor and not to have him in the Ethnotronics development team for a long while is bad. But you should consider that he did more than 50% of the entire work by now. We don't have excuses anymore, several times we did admit that we made a mistake with the so early announcement and explained a lot of production details rather frankly. Perhaps you like it to blame people, but this is simply bad behaviour. Yes, bitr isn't a perfect company, we are making mistakes too. But I've explained everything behind the Ethnotronics development and the most of our customers can live with that. If anyone is in need for our ethnic instruments samples right away it's always possible to order one of our existing libraries. Many customers are doing this as they know that they can rely on fine instrument samples plus upgrade to later products too.

Sincerely

Julia

i have to stand by with Julia here - she has already bent over backwards explaining the delay and there's no need to beat a dead horse. So let it go people....they're working on it and when it's ready...it's ready. Nobody is holding you back from going elsewhere and spending your money. I just appreciated that she has come out and explained everything and that's admiral in my book, so I don't think there's any need to make anymore noise about it.

Well - I thought it might be time for a bump of this thread.
It's now January and I'm curious as to how much progress has been made with Ethnotronics.

Are we any closer to determining a release date?
Has there been significant progress - has Klaus' activities quietened down enough for a real go at the soundset?

Dear Caleb,

thanks for asking and yes, Ethnotronics is in progress. As mentioned we'll not announce release dates for new products, they'll appear in our product catalog when they're available. But we have news though. There will be two versions of Ethnotronics, a regular one and a Pro version. The difference between both versions is the instruments samples content amount.

Sincerely

Julia

Julia,

Could you elaborate a little further on the differences between the regular and pro?

For example - is there going to be a regular WusikStation and a pro WusikStation and a regular Halion and a pro Halion?

Caleb

Julia,
Will there still be special pricing on Ethnotronics for people that bought TSW Pro? That's the only reason I bought TSW Pro was to get the special pricing on Ethnotronics that you announced last year.
I think it was $59.00 (edit: it's $109.00USD) I found the email.
I have the email here some where.
Thanks, Riley

The focus for the regular version is to provide many different instruments as possible. The Pro version will have the same content plus some instruments categories in XXL versions. Example: The regular version comes with about 50 large Didgeridoo one-shots performed with 2 different instruments while the Pro version provides 250 large one-shots performed with 5 different instruments.

Thanks Julia - does that mean there will be a regular and pro for both WusikStation and Halion Player?

The HALion version will be available as Pro version only. But there will be the option: library only, without player. We have many HALion users out there and they don't want or need another player. The HALion library will be available in the both regular and Pro versions.

Have you 'all considered a Kontakt version?

Actually not, especially not for a fully designed Presets/Sample Library version. Surely we can convert the entire sample data to NI Kontakt, Gigasampler, etc., this depends on the demand. Making format conversions is the very smallest part of the jobs, the tools like Extreme Sample Converter and AWave can make that fast and with very good results. Of course we'll consider all this too.
